Aikya Kerala Congress was an alliance consisting of four political parties in Kerala, India; Kerala Congress (Mani), Kerala Congress (Balakrishna Pillai), Kerala Congress (Jacob) and Kerala Congress (Secular). The alliance was formed in November 2008. [1] K.M. Mani was the chairman of AKC, whilst R. Balakrishna Pillai was the convenor of the alliance. [2]

The alliance was unsuccessful and disbanded.[ citation needed ]

Kesari Balakrishna Pillai

Akathoot Balakrishna Pillai (1889–1960), better known as Kesari Balakrishna Pillai, was a Malayalam writer, art and literary critic and journalist, considered by many as one of the most influential thinkers of modern Kerala. He was the eponymous founder of the newspaper, Kesari and was one of the three major figures in modern Malayalam literary criticism, along with Joseph Mundassery and M. P. Paul. Besides works such as Kesariyude Lokangal, Navalokam, Sankethika Nirupanangal Sahitya Nirupanangal, Rupamanjari, he also wrote a text in English under the title, Outlines of the Proto-Historic Chronology of Western Asia.

Kummanam Rajasekharan Former Governor of Mizoram

Kummanam Rajasekharan is an Indian politician and former Governor of Mizoram (2018–2019). He began his political career as an activist of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Sangh Parivar in Kerala in 1970. From 2015 to 2018, he was the state president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kerala. He is also the first BJP leader from Kerala to become Governor. He currently serves as the administrative committee member of the Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

1960 Kerala Legislative Assembly election

The Kerala Legislative Assembly election of 1960 was the second assembly election in the Indian state of Kerala. The elections were held on 1 February 1960.

The Kerala Congress has suffered severe divisions and several factions, and a number of parties have emerged over the years, all claiming the name Kerala Congress in various times in its history. Factions included the parent under P. J. Joseph, Kerala Congress (Mani) under K. M. Mani, Kerala Congress under R. Balakrishna Pillai, and Kerala Congress (Jacob) under T. M. Jacob. The group that had retained the official recognition by the Election Commission of India to the name 'Kerala Congress' was the one led by P. J. Joseph until 2010.
