Air Juan Aviation, Inc., operating as Air Juan, is a registered scheduled and non-scheduled domestic airline operating in the Philippines with bases in Manila, Puerto Princesa and Cebu. It is the first commercial seaplane operator in the Philippines. [1]

Air Juan is also the only airline company that offers flights to and from Manila outside the heavily congested Ninoy Aquino International Airport as all its seaplane flights arrive and depart from the Air Juan Seaplane Terminal located within the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex in Pasay, Metro Manila. Aside from its seaplane operations, the company also has in its fleet helicopters, business jets, and propeller planes for commuter air services in Palawan, Caticlan, and Iloilo.

History

Air Juan started operating private charter services in 2012, and scheduled flight services from Puerto Princesa to Cuyo Island, Coron, and Caticlan in 2016. Most recently, Air Juan started operating scheduled seaplane services from Manila to Puerto Galera, Subic, Busuanga Bay, and Boracay without passing through domestic airports as the aircraft flies its passengers directly to the hotels or resorts.

Closure and revival

Air Juan ceased operations sometime around 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, however there is no info yet on the exact date they closed down. [2] Their website shut down and redirected to another site. During March 2023, however, a Philippine news site reported that Air Juan will resume flights from Mactan to Bantayan sometime around March. [3] It also looks like that they resumed charter operations as shown in a Facebook post dated April 24, 2023. [4]

Expansion

In 2017, Air Juan announced that it is expanding its seaplane operations and will soon offer flights from Manila to Marinduque, Baler, and Balesin Island resort, though it is uncertain whether it will be a regularly scheduled flight or just through charters. Its Palawan operations have expanded to include Iloilo and Caticlan services from Cuyo Island. In June 2017, Air Juan started operating land planes out of Mactan-Cebu International Airport offering services to Tagbilaran City of Bohol, Siquijor, Biliran, Maasin, Sipalay, and Bantayan Island. In March 2018, Air Juan began commercial flights between Cebu City and Catbalogan City, Samar's capital.

Cebu

In Cebu, the seaplane base has been set up within Pond F of SRP (South Road Properties). [5]

The airline also had an agreement on selected routes flown by Air Philippines. PEAC was also an affiliate airline of TNT Airways, with PEAC operating TNT leased BAe 146 aircraft.

The airline's main base has been transferred from Clark International Airport in Angeles City to Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Metro Manila. On April 30, 2017, Cebgo planned to move out from Manila and transfer its main base to Mactan–Cebu International Airport in Cebu City because NAIA has already maxed out its capacity. Currently, it operates an all-ATR fleet, with a total of 16 in service.

Mid-Sea Express started as air charter operator and non-scheduled air taxi headquartered at Mactan–Cebu International Airport in Lapu-Lapu City in Central Visayas, in the Philippines. As Fil-Asian Airways, its slogan was "The Asian experience". The airline was operated from major airports such as Mactan–Cebu International Airport in Cebu, Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Davao City and Zamboanga International Airport.

Mactan–Cebu International Airport is an international airport serving Cebu and serves as the main gateway to the Central Visayas region in the Philippines. Located on a 797-hectare (1,970-acre) site in Lapu-Lapu City on Mactan, it is the second busiest airport in the Philippines. Opened on April 27, 1966, the airport serves as a hub for Philippine Airlines, and as an operating base for Cebu Pacific and Philippines AirAsia.

Astro Air International, Inc., doing business as Pan Pacific Airlines, was a full-service airline based in the Philippines. It was established in 1973 under the name Astro Air International but was renamed as Spirit of Manila Airlines in 2011 and ceased commercial flights after three months of operations. In 2016, the airline relaunched under the current brand after it began operating to serve the South Korean market. The airline commenced operations on April 27, 2017, with its inaugural flight between Kalibo and Seoul. Philippine Airlines (PAL) is the flag carrier of the Philippines, operating from its base at Ninoy Aquino International Airport. PAL is the oldest airline in Asia operating under its original name, having been founded in 1941.

Royal Air Charter Service, Inc., operating as Royal Air Philippines, is a Philippine-registered budget airline. The company was established on August 22, 2002, as a chartered airline. It began operations as a budget airline on December 14, 2018, with an inaugural flight from its hub in Clark, Pampanga to Caticlan in Aklan.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Nustar Resort and Casino</span>

Nustar Resort and Casino is a 9-hectare (22-acre) integrated resort and casino facility on Kawit Point, South Road Properties (SRP), Cebu City, Philippines. The project, which includes restaurants, bars, a mall, convention center, casino, park, theater, and at least three hotels, is a joint venture of the Cebu City Government and Universal Hotels and Resorts, Inc. The project opened partially in 2022.

Transportation within Cebu City is mainly land-based with most parts of the city accessible by road. There is no existing mass transit but construction is currently being undertaken on the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit System as well as an existing proposal for a Cebu Monorail, both of which will be crucial in solving the city's worsening traffic congestion, as existing transportation modes will soon become insufficient to move residents around the city if the local government fails to urgently implement infrastructure projects and measures to address the issue.
