Ajatshatru Singh (born 6 February 1966) is an Indian politician and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is a former member of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council [1] in the Government of Jammu and Kashmir. He was a member of the Jammu &Kashmir National Conference and was minister of state with portfolios of Tourism,Youth Services &Sports,Parks and Gardens,Science &Technology and Transport &Information in Farooq Abdullah's government from 1996 to 2002. He was also Member of Legislative Assembly from Nagrota constituency from 1996 to 2002.
He is a younger brother of senior Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh and son of former Sadr-e-Riyasat Karan Singh and Yasho Rajya Lakshmi,granddaughter of the last Rana Prime Minister of Nepal,Mohan Shumsher Jang Bahadur Rana. He is also Trustee of J&K Dharmarth Trust which was founded by Maharaja Gulab Singh. [2] His elder brother Vikramaditya Singh was a member of the Indian National Congress.
In November 2014,he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in presence of party's President Amit Shah. [3] [4] [5] [6]
Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was an Indian politician who served twice as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir,during November 2002–November 2005 and March 2015–January 2016. He was also Minister of Tourism in Rajiv Gandhi's cabinet and Home Minister of India in V. P. Singh's cabinet. He started in the wing of the National Conference led by G. M. Sadiq,which later merged into the Indian National Congress. He switched to Janata Dal in 1987,eventually founding his own regional party,People's Democratic Party (PDP). The PDP continues to be a political force in Jammu and Kashmir,currently led by his daughter Mehbooba Mufti.
Peoples Party of Arunachal,a regional political party in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. It was founded in September 1977 by Bakin Pertin,Oken Lego and L. Panthers party has maintained power at assembly and local level for over four decades in its stronghold within the mountainous Udhampur constituency,where in the vicinity 5.9 million tonnes of lithium,the 7th largest known reserve in the world,with an estimated value of $500 billion,was discovered in February 2023.

Preneet Kaur is an Indian politician who served in the Government of India as a Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs from 2009 to 2014. She is married to Amarinder Singh,who was the 15th Chief Minister of Punjab. She joined the Congress party,to which her husband also belonged once,and contested parliamentary elections repeatedly from the Patiala constituency. In February 2023,she was suspended from party for supporting BJP leader and her husband Amarinder Singh. She won the elections of 1999,2004 and 2009,but lost her seat in the elections of 2014 and made a comeback by winning again in 2019.
Karan Singh is an Indian politician and philosopher. He is the Titular Maharaja of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir. From 1952 to 1965 he was the Sadr-i-Riyasat (President) of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. He is the chairperson trustee of the Dharmarth Trust of Jammu and Kashmir which maintains 175 temples in north India and works in other areas such as historical preservation.
The Dogra dynasty of Dogra Rajputs from the Shivalik hills created Jammu and Kashmir when all dynastic kingdoms in India were being absorbed by the East India Company. Events led the Sikh Empire to recognise Jammu as a vassal state in 1820,and later the British added Kashmir to Jammu with the Treaty of Amritsar in 1846. The founder of the dynasty,Gulab Singh,was an influential noble in the court of the Sikh emperor Maharaja Ranjit Singh,while his brother Dhian Singh served as the prime minister of the Sikh Empire. Appointed by Ranjit Singh as the hereditary Raja of the Jammu principality,Gulab Singh established his supremacy over all the hill states surrounding the Kashmir Valley. After the First Anglo-Sikh War in 1846,under the terms of the Treaty of Lahore,1846,the British Indian government acquired Kashmir from the Sikh Empire and transferred it to Gulab Singh,recognising him as an independent maharaja. Thus,Jammu and Kashmir was established as one of the largest princely states in British India,receiving a 21-gun salute for its Maharaja in 1921. It was ruled by Gulab Singh and his descendants till 1947.

Voters elected 87 members to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly,which ends its six-year term on 19 January 2020. The results were declared on 23 December 2014. Voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) along with EVMs were used in 3 assembly seats out of 87 in Jammu Kashmir elections.

Dharmarth Trust in Jammu and Kashmir was founded by Maharaja Gulab Singh in 1846 as an endowment for religious charity,and to manage and support Hinduism. In 1884,and under Maharaja Ranbir Singh,the Ain-i-Dharmath or 'The Regulations for the Dharmarth Trust' were formulated and a government department for religious affairs was created. The trust helped the Dogra dynasty to consolidate and validate its control over its territory and over the functioning of Hinduism in the region.
