Ajit Gopchade is an Indian politician and activist from Maharashra,who is serving as Member of Parliament,Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra state since 2024. [1] He is representing Bharatiya Janata Party. [2]
In 1992,Gopchade has finished his study on MBBS and joined with a group of over 300 Hindutva youth activists to Ayodhya for "karseva," or serving Lord Ram. [3] He admitted that he was in the widely shared 6 December 1992,picture of a group of young people gleefully standing atop one of the Babri Masjit's three domes. [4]
After completing his M.D. at a government medical college,he joined the BJP and functioned as the convener of the party's doctors' cell. He was then elevated to the position of party vice-president in the state. [5]
Because of his capacity to organize and his proactive involvement in setting up medical camps during COVID-19,the BJP has suggested that he run for the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections in May 2020. But at the last moment,his name was omitted. [6]
In 2024,he was nominated to Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra by BJP along with his colleagues Medha Kulkarni and Ashok Chavan. [7]

The Liberhan Commission was a long-running inquiry commissioned by the Government of India to investigate the destruction of the disputed structure Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in 1992. Led by retired High Court Judge M. S. Liberhan,it was formed on 16 December 1992 by an order of the Indian Home Union Ministry after the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya on 6 December and the subsequent riots there. The commission was originally mandated to submit its report within three months. Extensions were given 48 times,and after a delay of 17 years,the one-man commission submitted the report to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on 30 June 2009. In November 2009,a day after a newspaper published the allegedly leaked contents of the report,the report was tabled in Parliament by the Home Minister P. Chidambaram.

Although a parliamentary democracy,Indian politics has increasingly become dynastic,possibly due to the absence of a party organization,independent civil society associations that mobilize support for the party,and centralized financing of elections. Family members have also led the Congress party for most of the period since 1978 when Indira Gandhi floated the then Congress(I) faction of the party. It also is fairly common in many political parties in Maharashtra. The dynastic phenomenon is seen from national level down to district level and even village level.The three-tier structure of Panchayati Raj established in the 1960s also helped to create and consolidate the dynastic phenomenon in rural areas. Apart from government,political families also control cooperative institutions,mainly cooperative sugar factories,district cooperative banks in the state,and since the 1980s private for profit colleges. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party also features several senior leaders who are dynasts. In Maharashtra,the NCP has particularly high level of dynasticism.
