Akeem Whonder (born May 18, 1989) is a former Canadian football linebacker who played one game in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played U Sports football for the Windsor Lancers and went unselected in the 2014 CFL Draft, later being signed by the Calgary Stampeders. [1] [2] He was a member of their Grey Cup championship team that year and later had stints with the Toronto Argonauts, Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Hamilton Tiger-Cats. [3] He played his only game with the Tiger-Cats in 2017.

College career

Whonder graduated from St. Joseph Secondary School in Mississauga, Ontario, and afterwards attended the University of Windsor, where he played 37 games for the Windsor Lancers football team. In those games, Whonder recorded 175 defense tackles, eight quarterback sacks, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one interception. [4]

As a senior in 2013, Whonder earned Ontario University Athletics all-star honours. [5]

Professional career

Calgary Stampeders

After going unselected in the 2014 CFL Draft, Whonder signed with the Calgary Stampeders as an undrafted free agent. [6] He spent the season on the practice roster, being a member of their Grey Cup championship squad. [7] [8]

Toronto Argonauts

On January 7, 2015, Whonder was signed by the Toronto Argonauts. [9] He suffered a season-ending injury in preseason against the Montreal Alouettes. He was re-signed in December but did not make the team in 2016. [4]

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Whonder was signed by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in January 2017, but did not appear in any games. [5] [10]

Hamilton Tiger-Cats

In September 2017, Whonder was signed by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. [11] He was a member of the practice roster for the majority of his time there, but was able to make an appearance in one game, posting three tackles. [10] [12] He was released in June 2018. [13]

Dinwiddie later went on to play professionally for the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europe, and also played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.

Isaiah "Ike" Charlton is a former professional Canadian football linebacker and currently the defensive backs coach for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL). As a player, he spent most of his professional career playing for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL. He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the second round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He played college football at Virginia Tech.

Ejiro "E. J." Megetaveh Kuale [kuh-WAL-ee] is a former professional American and Canadian football linebacker. He was signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2006. He played college football for the LSU Tigers.

The 2011 CFL season was the 58th season of modern-day Canadian football. Officially, it was the 54th season of the Canadian Football League. The complete schedule was released on February 18 and featured the defending Grey Cup champion Montreal Alouettes opening the season against the visiting BC Lions on Thursday, June 30, 2011.
