Akrokerri is a town and a suburb of Obuasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. [1] The town is located in the Adansi North District. [2]

It is the home of the Akrokerri College of Education, formerly known as Akrokerri Training College or Akrokerri Teacher Training College. [3] It is also home of Asare Bediako Senior High School. [4]

There is a market day every Tuesday at Sampakrom.

Its most famous resident is Patrick 'Kofi' Afoakwah currently of Jessup, Maryland.

Akrokerri is mentioned in the books of Nana Osei Tutu II, the Ashanti hene, as a town created by God(Odomankoma Ab)de3).

Adansi is the name of an Akan ethnic group inhabiting the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The capital of the Adansi is at Fomena. An Adansihene is still designated. The Adansi has seven paramountcies: the capital, Fomena, New Edubiase, Ayaase, Akrokyere (Akrokerri), Akrofuom, Bodwesango and, Dompoase. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 when it was known as Afigya-Sekyere District, which it was created from part of the former Kwabre-Sekyere District Council; until the western part of the district was split off to become the northern portion of Afigya-Kwabre District on 1 November 2007 ; while the remaining portion has since then been officially renamed as Sekyere South District. Offinso Municipal District is one of the forty-three districts in Ashanti Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 when it was known as Offinso District, which it was created from the former Offinso District Council; until the northern part of the district was later split off to create Offinso North District on 29 February 2008; while the remaining part was elevated to municipal district assembly status on the same year to become Offinso Municipal District. The municipality is located in the northern part of Ashanti Region and has Offinso as its capital town.

Atwima Kwanwoma District is one of the forty-three districts in Ashanti Region, Ghana. Originally it was part of the then-larger Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District which was carved out on 10 March 1989 from the Ejisu-Juaben-Bosomtwe District. In 2007, Atwima-Kwanwoma District was created with Foase as its capital which was later moved to Twedie as a result of a supreme Court ruling.
