It is located south-west of Amman the capital of Jordan.

Amman is the capital and largest city of Jordan and the country's economic, political and cultural centre. Irbid, known in ancient times as Arabella or Arbela, is the capital and largest city of the Irbid Governorate. Irbid is located about 70 kilometres (43 mi) north of Amman on the northern ridge of the Gilead, equidistant from Pella, Beit Ras (Capitolias), and Um Qais, and approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) south of the Syrian border.

Al-Muwaqqar(Arabic: الموقر) is a district in the Amman Governorate of north-western Jordan. The village contains the scant ruins of an Umayyad palace, the Qasr Al Muwaqqar, one of the desert castles. Little remains of the palace today except several acanthus leaf capitals and gauge for a water reservoir. The district is the headquarters of the 3rd Armored Division and a police training center. Most of the families which are staying in the region are from Bani Sakhr, like: Khraisha, al-Arabid, al-Jbour, al-Qudahh.
Al Qastal is a town in the Amman Governorate of northern Jordan. Originally established as an Umayyad settlement, it remains the oldest and most complete such settlement in the Near East The remains of the minaret at Qastal is especially important as it is the only one extant from the Umayyad period, making it one of the oldest minarets in the world. Qasr Al Qastal, also located within the town, is considered one of the desert castles and is just 5 km from Qasr Mshatta.
Al-Quwaysimah is a city in the center of Jordan, and also one of the districts of Amman governorate. As of 2013 it had a population of 176,400, making it the fifth largest city in Jordan. In the 2015 census it was grouped with the localities of al-Jweideh, Abu Alandah and al-Rajib for a combined population of 296,273. In the 1915 Ottoman census it had a population of 101, all Muslims.
