Alagappa Nagar is situated at Amballur Village near Puthukkad town in Mukundapuram Taluk in Thrissur District in Kerala State. [1] Alagappa Nagar is 12.7 km far from Thrissur city. It is 221 km far from the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram. There is a Textile Mill factory in this town named Alagappanagar Textile Mill Factory Originally build by Dr Alagappa Chettiar.

In 1937, Dr. Alagappa Chettiar started Cochin Textiles, later Alagappa Textiles at Amballur near Thrissur in Kerala. The township for Cochin textile staff was named "Alagappa Nagar".

There is also a Polytechnic called Thiagarajar Polytechnic College having engineering departments of Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical and Civil Engineering.

Vendore is a village in the Thrissur district of Kerala, India. Vendore is situated in between Amballur and Mannampetta. Vendore comes under AlagappaNagar GramaPanchayat and the nearest town is Amballur, about 2 km away. The football ground 'Alagappanagar Football Ground' is in Vendore. Vendore is also famous for St Mary's Church and Nambooriyachan Temple. One of the old known mills, Alagappanagar Textile Mill, is also located here. The Panchayath office is located in Vendore nearer to the Veterinary Hospital.

Maharaja's Technological Institute known as MTI is a Government-run technical education institute situated in Thrissur City of Kerala, India. Founded in 1946 by Maharaja of Cochin to impart technical education for the people of the Kingdom of Cochin, it is the oldest technical institute and polytechnic in Kerala. The institution is now under the control of Directorate of Technical Education formed by the Government of Kerala.

Thiagarajar Polytechnic College, Alagappanagar is a Government-owned aided Vocational Education Institution in Thrissur district. The college was started by the educationalist and philanthropist, Dr. Alagappa Chettiar, who opened many educational institutions in Tamilnadu and Kerala. It was sanctioned by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India in 1956 and was the first aided polytechnic institution in India.
