Alejandra Jacinto Uranga (born 4 August 1989) [1] is a Spanish lawyer and former politician. She worked for Plataforma de Afectados por la Hipoteca defending people from eviction. She was elected to the Assembly of Madrid for Podemos in 2021 and was their lead candidate two years later, in which the party lost all its seats. She then left politics and returned to the legal profession.
Born in Madrid, Jacinto earned degrees in law, political sciences, and administration from the Autonomous University of Madrid. She then practiced law as a public defender. From 2012, Jacinto worked for Plataforma de Afectados por la Hipoteca, a platform for people facing eviction. [1]
Unidas Podemos leader Pablo Iglesias Turrión named Jacinto in fourth place on the party's list for the 2021 Madrilenian regional election. [2] Deputy mayor Begoña Villacís, of the party Citizens, criticised the appointment; [3] Jacinto had been involved in an escrache (doorstep heckling) of Villacís when the latter was heavily pregnant in 2019. [4] When interviewed on Cuatro, Jacinto did not answer when asked why she had not done the same to protest evictions by the previous left-wing local government of Manuela Carmena. [4] Villacis called on Iglesias and his partner, equalities minister Irene Montero, to denounce the escrache. [3]
Jacinto was elected to the Assembly of Madrid in 2021, as part of 10 members of Podemos, who made up the smallest of the five parliamentary groups. [5] As the party's spokesperson in the assembly, she called in November 2022 for left-wing parties to join up with social movements to end the People's Party governance of the Community of Madrid in the May 2023 election. [6] Her party polled under the 5% necessary for seats in that election, as well as the concurrent municipal election, and was wiped out. [7]
On 20 June 2023, Yolanda Díaz, leader of left-wing platform Sumar, appointed Jacinto as housing spokesperson during the national electoral campaign. [8] On 2 October that year, Jacinto left politics and returned to the legal profession. [9]

Plataforma de Afectados por la Hipoteca is a Spanish grassroots organization that takes direct action to stop evictions and campaigns for housing rights. The PAH was set up in Barcelona in February 2009 and by 2017 had 220 local branches across Spain. It was established in response to the 2008 financial crisis that triggered the bursting of the Spanish housing bubble and resists evictions due to foreclosures.
Podemos is a left-wing to far-left political party in Spain. Founded in January 2014 by the political scientist Pablo Iglesias Turrión as part of the anti-austerity movement in Spain, the party is currently led by Secretary-general Ione Belarra.

During his political career, he served as Second Deputy Prime Minister and as Minister of Social Rights and 2030 Agenda of the Government of Spain from 2020 to 2021. He also served as Member of the Congress of Deputies from 2016 to 2021, representing Madrid. Iglesias is a co-founder of Podemos, a left-wing political party that he led from 2014 until his resignation in 2021.

The election was held simultaneously with regional elections in eleven other autonomous communities and local elections all throughout Spain, as well as the 2019 European Parliament election.
Irene María Montero Gil is a Spanish politician and psychologist, member of the Podemos party. She most recently served as the Minister of Equality of Spain from 13 January 2020 to 20 November 2023. She is the partner of Pablo Iglesias, one of the founders and former leader of her party.

The 2021 Madrilenian regional election was held on Tuesday, 4 May 2021, to elect the 12th Assembly of the Community of Madrid. All 136 seats in the Assembly were up for election. This marked the first time that a regional premier in Madrid made use of the presidential prerogative to call an early election.

All 57 seats in the City Council were up for election. The election was held simultaneously with regional elections in twelve autonomous communities and local elections all throughout Spain.
Yolanda Díaz Pérez is a Spanish politician and labour lawyer, currently serving as Second Deputy Prime Minister since 2021, and Minister of Labour and Social Economy of the Government of Spain since 2020. A longtime member of the Communist Party of Spain, in 2023 she founded the electoral platform Sumar, as well as its instrumental party Movimiento Sumar, resigning as the leader of the alliance in 2024. She has been a member of the Congress of Deputies since 2016, having previously been a Ferrol municipal councillor (2003–2012) and member of the Parliament of Galicia (2012–2016). She was also the National Coordinator of Esquerda Unida (EU) from 2005 to 2017.
Mónica García Gómez is a Spanish anesthesiologist and politician, current coordinator and spokesperson of the political party Más Madrid in the Madrilenian Assembly. She was an elected deputy during the X legislature of the Madrilenian Assembly under the Spanish political party Podemos, and is currently a deputy in the XI legislature as part of Más Madrid. Since 2015, García has combined her political work with her job in health care, with a 50% reduction in working hours. She was appointed Minister of Health in the third government of Pedro Sánchez following the 2023 Spanish general elections.

Because regional elections in the Community of Madrid were mandated for the fourth Sunday of May every four years, the 2021 snap election did not alter the term of the four-year legislature starting in 2019. The election was held simultaneously with regional elections in eleven other autonomous communities and local elections all throughout Spain.
Attempts to form a government in Spain followed the Spanish general election of 28 April 2019, which failed to deliver an overall majority for any political party. As a result, the previous cabinet headed by Pedro Sánchez was forced to remain in a caretaker capacity until the election of a new government.
Carolina Alonso Alonso is a Spanish politician. She was elected to the Assembly of Madrid in the 2019 elections and led Podemos there from 2021 to 2023. She quit the party in December 2023.
Sumar is an electoral alliance constituted for the 2023 Spanish general election, founded by Spanish second deputy prime minister and labour minister Yolanda Díaz, provisionally registered as an association on 28 March 2022 and publicly unveiled on 18 May. After a series of nationwide public events from July 2022 to 25 March 2023, the association presented its manifesto and officially announced Díaz's candidacy for the election on 2 April. On 30 May, after a snap general election was called, the association registered as a political party under the name Movimiento Sumar.
