Alex Bent (born January 31, 1993) is an American musician who is the drummer for heavy metal bands Trivium, [3] [4] Arkaik [5] [6] and Dragonlord. [7] He is a former drummer for Battlecross [8] [9] and Brain Drill [5] and has also toured with Decrepit Birth [1] and Testament. [5]

Early life

Bent was born January 31, 1993, in Oakland, California. When he turned 11 years of age, he asked his father to assemble his old drum kit. After teaching himself how to perform percussion for just over one year, he competed in drum competitions and auditioned for various musical ensembles. [1]

When Bent turned 15, he performed with Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, [10] Modesto Junior College Jazz Band in addition to other local musical groups. Within the next 3 years, he participated in the Guitar Center Drum Off making it to Regional Finals. [1]

Career

In 2011, Bent joined Arkaik, touring with Decrepit Birth and Hatriot in 2012 and becoming a settled member of Brain Drill [11] and Dragonlord in 2015. [12]

In April 2015, American blue collar metal band Battlecross employed Bent for their "Summer of Doom Tour" with Crowbar and Lord Dying. [13] Later that year, Bent filled in for Gene Hoglan of Testament. [14] [15] [16]

At the recommendation of producer Mark Lewis, Trivium had Bent audition for the role as their new drummer, [17] replacing former drummer Paul Wandtke. [18] In January 2017, Trivium confirmed Bent as their drummer for their February 2017 European tour [19] with Sikth and Shvpes. [5]

Testament is an American heavy metal band from Berkeley, California. Formed in 1983 under the name Legacy, the band's current lineup comprises rhythm guitarist Eric Peterson, lead vocalist Chuck Billy, lead guitarist Alex Skolnick, bassist Steve Di Giorgio and drummer Chris Dovas. Testament has experienced many lineup changes over the years, with Peterson being the only remaining original member, though they have since reunited with Skolnick, who had been out of the band from 1992 to 2005. Billy has been a member of Testament since 1986, when he replaced original singer Steve "Zetro" Souza, who had left to replace Paul Baloff in Exodus. Dragonlord is an American symphonic black metal band that was formed in 2001 as a side project by Eric Peterson and Steve Di Giorgio of Testament, and Steve Smyth of Nevermore. The band is a result of Eric Peterson's interest in darker music, and not being able to do that with Testament he formed Dragonlord. The band combines elements of black metal with some thrash guitar influences. Lyrical themes vary, either about the rage of a dragon, death, war, lost love, Satanic or otherwise anti-religious themes, or combinations.

Jason Suecof is an American record producer and audio engineer best known for his work with heavy metal bands such as Trivium, Battlecross, Death Angel, All That Remains, Bury Your Dead, The Black Dahlia Murder, and The Autumn Offering. In addition, Suecof also has been the guitarist for heavy metal bands Capharnaum and Charred Walls of the Damned.

The discography of Trivium, an American heavy metal band, consists of ten studio albums, three extended play, two demo albums, 42 singles and 34 music videos. Formed in Orlando, Florida in 1999, the group's first recording lineup included vocalist and guitarist Matt Heafy, bassist Brent Young and drummer Travis Smith, who together released Ember to Inferno on Lifeforce Records in 2003. After the addition of guitarist Corey Beaulieu and new bassist Paolo Gregoletto in place of Young, the band signed with Roadrunner Records and released Ascendancy in 2005, which reached number 151 on the US Billboard 200. It also reached number 79 on the UK Albums Chart and was certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). The Crusade followed in 2006, peaking at number 25 on the Billboard 200 and number 7 on the UK Albums Chart. <i>The Sin and the Sentence</i> 2017 studio album by Trivium

The Sin and the Sentence is the eighth studio album by American heavy metal band Trivium. It was released on October 20, 2017, through Roadrunner Records and was produced by Josh Wilbur. The album is the first to feature fifth drummer Alex Bent, who replaced drummer Paul Wandtke. With the release of the album's title track, this album would also mark the return of frontman Matt Heafy's screaming vocals since the band's 2013 album Vengeance Falls, which were completely absent from the band's previous album Silence in the Snow due to an injury which caused Heafy to blow out his voice.
