Alex Kruz, aka Alex K. Rojas (born November 30, 1975) is an American public figure, director, producer, scientist, television, theater and film actor. [1] [2] [3]

Early life

Alex Kruz was born in New Jersey. He is of Ecuadorian descent. [4] He has a Ph.D. in Quantum engineering and received letters of appreciation from the White House and President Joe Biden. [5] He has been inducted into the Marquis Who's Who registry for the year 2023. [6] [7]

Career

As an actor, Kruz played the role of a bad boyfriend in various TV shows and films. He worked opposite Bruce Willis in theatrical production at the Creative Artist Agency before retirement. He played the Zorro character for Zorro Productions. He took over as Zorro from Antonio Banderas for live shows in Los Angeles. Kruz had his projects on the Academy Award Shortlist 3 times and at Sundance and SXSW 2 times. [8] [9]

In 2014, Kruz produced the short film Godka Cirka (A Hole in the Sky), about the female genital mutilation in Somalia, directed by Alex Lora Cercos which premiered at Sundance. It won the Gaudí Awards. [10] [11]

In 2016, he co-directed the short film Parivara with Alex Lora Cercos. It premiered at the Cambridge Film Festival and won Best Documentary at several international film festivals, including the International Film Festival of New York. [12] [13] [14]

Kruz directed Parivara [3] and Fallen: The Search of a Broken Angel . [15] [16] [17] He received a nomination and won an award at the New York Emmy Awards alongside Alex Lora Cercos. [18] [3]

Kruz is involved in global charitable work, focusing on children's welfare and combating human trafficking. [19] He helped found the Samarpan Foundation (“Unconditional Service” in Sanskrit), a Nepal-based NGO, operating as a 501(c) organization. [20] [21] [3] [19]

Leon Jacques Gast was an American documentary film director, producer, cinematographer, and editor. His documentary, When We Were Kings depicts the iconic heavyweight boxing match: The Rumble in the Jungle between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman. This film would go on to win the 1996 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature and the Independent Spirit Award. Gast co-directed the 1977 documentary, The Grateful Dead Movie with guitarist Jerry Garcia. The film captured the band's October 1974, five-night performance at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. Gast also co-directed the 1983 film Hell's Angels Forever, which focused on the notorious motorcycle club Hells Angels. The Angels are believed to have learned that Gast put material in the documentary which they didn't prefer. To this end, Gast claimed that the Angels tracked him down and beat him up. Gast also produced works on B.B. King and Celia Cruz.
