Alex Massie (born March 19, 1995) is a Canadian para-snowboarder who competes in the SB-LL2 category.

Career

Massie competed at Winter X Games XIX and won a bronze medal in the adaptive snowboard-cross event. The next year at Winter X Games XX he won a silver medal in the adaptive snowboard-cross event. [1]

He competed at the 2021 World Para Snow Sports Championships and won a silver medal in the men's dual banked slalom, and won a gold medal with Tyler Turner in the men's team event. [2] [3]

He represented Canada at the 2018 Winter Paralympics. [4] He will again represent Canada at the 2022 Winter Paralympics. [5]

Personal life

Massie suffered a wakeboarding accident in 2011 which resulted in him losing his left leg below the knee. [6]

Mike Minor is an American adaptive athlete, World Champion snowboarder, and a Paralympian who competed for the United States at the 2018 Winter Paralympics. He won gold in Snowboarding at the 2018 Winter Paralympics – Men's banked slalom and bronze in Men's snowboard cross division SB-UL. During his childhood, Minor was given a prosthetic part for his right arm. He starting skiing at the age of two and started snowboarding at the age of seven. He was nominated for the Best Male Athlete with a Disability ESPY Award in 2017.

Mike Shea is a retired American para-snowboarder. He won a silver medal at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in the inaugural Snowboard cross event. At the World Para Snowboard Championships in the LL2 division, Shea won gold in the 2015 banked slalom event and bronze in the 2017 snowboard cross event. In 2014 and 2015, Shea was nominated for the Best Male Athlete with a Disability ESPY Award. Shea retired from snowboarding in 2020.
