The 2021 World Para Snow Sports Championships was an international disability sport competition held in Lillehammer, Norway from 8 to 23 January 2022. [2] It was the inaugural edition of the World Para Snow Sports Championships with para-alpine skiing, para cross-country skiing, para biathlon and para snowboard being held. [3] [4] It was scheduled for 7 to 20 February 2021 but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Norway. [2] [5] The rescheduled event retained 2021 in its name. [6] [7]

Contents

The biathlon and cross-country skiing events were held at the Birkebeineren Ski Stadium and the alpine skiing and snowboard events were held at Hafjell. [8]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Menna Fitzpatrick</span> British para-alpine skier

Menna Fitzpatrick MBE is a British alpine skier. She is visually impaired having only 5% vision and formerly skied with guide Jennifer Kehoe until 2021. They competed at the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang in March 2018 where they took four medals, including a gold in the slalom, making Fitzpatrick Team GB's most decorated Winter Paralympian.

Anja Wicker is a German disabled cross-country skier and biathlete. She represented Germany at the 2014 Winter Paralympics claiming a gold and a silver medal in the biathlon events. She also represented Germany at the 2018 and 2022 Winter Paralympics.

Brenna Huckaby is an American snowboarder. She competed at the 2018 Winter Paralympics, winning gold medals in the snowboard cross and banked slalom, and she won gold and a bronze medal at the 2022 Winter Paralympics. She is the first Paralympian to appear in the Swimsuit Issue of Sports Illustrated.

Igor Sikorski is a German-born Polish male paralympic alpine skier. He made his Paralympic debut during the 2018 Winter Paralympics and claimed Poland's only medal at the 2018 Winter Paralympics after clinching a bronze medal in the men's giant slalom event.

Rushan Minnegulov is a Russian biathlete and cross-country skier. He won the gold medal in the men's 20 km standing cross-country skiing event at the 2014 Winter Paralympics held in Sochi, Russia. He also won the silver medal in the men's 1 km sprint classic event and the gold medal in the 4 x 2.5 kilometre open relay event. He also competed in biathlon and cross-country skiing at the 2010 Winter Paralympics held in Vancouver, Canada.

Monika Aleksandra Kotzian is a Polish para-snowboarder. Born without a left hand and forearm, she competes in the SB-UL category.

Lisa DeJong is a Canadian retired para-snowboarder who competed in the SB-LL2 category. She won Canada's first Winter Paralympic medal at the 2022 Winter Paralympics, and retired on October 10, 2023.

Oliver Hill is a British para-snowboarder and former motorcycle racer. He competes in snowboarding events for athletes with lower limb disabilities. Hill came third in the banked slalom events at the 2022 Winter Paralympics and 2021 World Para Snow Sports Championships.

Ellen Walther is a Swiss para-snowboarder in the SB-LL1 category.

Shona Brownlee MBE is a British skier and Royal Air Force Corporal. She won two medals at the 2021 World Para Snow Sports Championships, and competed at the 2022 Winter Paralympics.

Tyler Turner is a Canadian para-snowboarder who competes in the SB-LL1 category. He won the gold medal in the men's snowboard cross SB-LL1 event at the 2022 Winter Paralympics held in Beijing, China. He also won the bronze medal in the men's banked slalom SB-LL1 event.

Elina Stary is an Austrian visually impaired para alpine skier.

Maxime Montaggioni is a French para-snowboarder and parataekwondo practitioner. Born without a right hand, he competes in the SB-UL category. Montaggioni is six-time medallist at the World Para Snowboard Championships and a bronze medalist at the World Para Taekwondo Championships.
