The BRICS Games is a yearly multi-sport event organised by the BRICS countries. The event is generally organized by the country which chairs the group in the year. [1]
After a preliminary under-17 association football BRICS tournament was held in Goa in 2016, the first multi-sport BRICS tournament was held in Guangzhou, China, in 2017. The first Games consisted of volleyball, wushu, and taolu sports.
The next games were held in 2018 in Johannesburg, consisting of men's and women's volleyball and women's association football.
They were not held in 2019 and 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [2]
The 2021 BRICS Games were to be organised by India, [3] [4] and were supposed to be aligned with the Khelo India Games scheduled for the same year. This announcement was made by the Indian Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, at the meeting of Sports Ministers of the BRICS nations. India held the chairmanship of the five-nation independent international group in 2021. [5] The games were to be held during the same time and at the same venues as the Khelo India Games 2021, [6] but in the end this did not no go ahead. [7]
The 2022 event was organized by China, but could not be held in-person due to the county's policies relating to coronavirus. [1]
The 2023 event was organized by South Africa in October and held in Durban.[ needs update ] [8]

Kiren Rijiju is an Indian politician serving as 28th Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and 7th Minister of Minority Affairs since 2024. He was the Cabinet Minister of Earth Sciences and Food Processing Industries in the Government of India since 2023 till June 2024 and a member of the parliament in Lok Sabha from Arunachal West since 2014 and from 2004 to 2009. Earlier, he served as the Minister of State for Home Affairs from 2014 to 2019, Minister of State for Minority Affairs from 2019 to 2021, Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs from 2019 to 2021 and the Law minister from 2021 to 2023.

The New Development Bank (NDB), formerly referred to as the BRICS Development Bank, is a multilateral development bank established by the BRICS states. According to the Agreement on the NDB, "the Bank shall support public or private projects through loans, guarantees, equity participation and other financial instruments." Moreover, the NDB "shall cooperate with international organizations and other financial entities, and provide technical assistance for projects to be supported by the Bank."
Khelo India Youth Games are the annual national level multidisciplinary grassroot games in India held in January or February for two categories, namely under-17 years school students and under-21 college students. Every year best 1,000 kids will be given an annual scholarship of ₹5 lakh (US$6,000) for 8 years to prepare them for the international sporting events.

The Second Modi ministry, also called Modi 2.0 was the Council of Ministers headed by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi that was formed after the 2019 general election which was held in seven phases in 2019. The results of the election were announced on 23 May 2019 and this led to the formation of the 17th Lok Sabha. The oath ceremony was arranged in the courtyards of Rashtrapati Bhavan at Raisina Hill. The heads of the states of BIMSTEC countries were invited as guests of honor for this ceremony.
Khelo India University Games (KIUG) is a national level multi-sport event held in India, where athletes from universities across the country compete in different sports disciplines. The inaugural edition held in Odisha started on 22 February and concluded on 1 March 2020. It is organised by Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports along with Association of Indian Universities, Indian Olympic Association and National Sports Federation. It is the largest university level sports competition in India.
Srinivasa Gowda is an Indian Kambala jockey from Mudbidri, Karnataka. Also known as Indian Usain Bolt, Gowda came into limelight after his Kambala sprint broke Usain Bolt's world record in hundred meters. Gowda reportedly ran 142.5 metres in 13.62 seconds along with his racing buffalo pair.
Khelo India: National Programme for Development of Sports, branded as Khelo India, aims at improving India's sports culture at the grass-root level through organized talent identification, structured sporting competitions and infrastructure development. It is a Government of India programme launched in 2017-18 under the tenure Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sports Ministers Vijay Goel and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore. There has also been an emphasis on including traditional Indian games in Khelo India events in order to revive their popularity.
Khelo India Winter Games (KIWG) are the national level multidisciplinary grassroot winter games of India. Events include skiing, alpine skiing, nordic skiing, snow rugby, Ice stock sport, snow baseball, mountaineering, snowshoe running, ice hockey, figure skating and speed skating. It was decided to hold the first Khelo India Winter Games in 2020 after the success of multiple editions of the Khelo India Youth Games.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave is an under-construction sports enclave being built in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Once the sports enclave is fully built, it will be one of the largest of its kind in India. The project is being jointly executed with the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority, and the Government of Gujarat. A primary reason for the sports enclave to be built, is so that major sporting events, such as the Summer Olympic Games, could be hosted in India in the future.
Vikrant Baliyan is an Indian sanda fighter. He earned bronze medal in men's Sanda 60 kg at the 2019 World Wushu Championships in Shanghai, China, and gold medal in men's Sanda 60 kg at the 2019 South Asian Games in Pokhra, Nepal. Won Gold Medal in 9th Junior Asian Wushu Championship held from 14 September to 21 September 2017
Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) is a scheme created by Government of India to promote sports in India. In September 2014, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India started a scheme to train and promote high-performance athletes with a target of getting medals at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. It constituted a committee called as TOPS Elite Athletes’ Identification Committee to identify the elite athletes who can be supported in their training to get the Olympic medals. TOPS was expanded to include junior athletes in 2020.
The 2024 BRICS Games, also known as the 2024 BRICS Sports Games, was an international multi-sport competition running from 12 to 23 June 2024 in Kazan, Russia, organized by countries belonging to the economic association BRICS, and was held in Kazan in connection with Russia's chairmanship of BRICS in 2024.
