The Alexandria International Championships [1] or International Championships of Alexandria [2] was a men's and women's international clay court tennis tournament founded in 1914. It was played at the Alexandria Sporting Club (f. 1890), Alexandria, Egypt. The tournament ran until 1975. [3]
Seven editions of this event were valid as the International Championships of Egypt at Alexandria.
The Alexandria International Championships was a combined men's and women's clay court tennis tournament founded in 1914 and played at the Alexandria Sporting Club, [4] Alexandria, Egypt. The championships were staged until 1975. For the years 1937 '39 '46 '50 '52 '53 '55 the editions were valid as "International Championships of Egypt" when played in Alexandria. That tournament was mainly held Gezireh Sporting Club, Cairo. [5]

Nelly Adamson Landry was a tennis player from Belgium. She was the 1948 women's singles champion at the French Championships where she was seeded third, beating Shirley Fry in a three-set final. She had been a finalist in 1938, losing to Simonne Mathieu, and reached again the final in 1949, losing to Margaret Osborne duPont.
Alice Dorothy Head Knode, also known as Dottie Head Knode, was an American tennis player who reached the women's singles final of the French International Championships in 1955, losing to Angela Mortimer in three sets, and 1957, losing to Shirley Bloomer in straight sets. She reached the semifinals of six other Grand Slam singles tournaments from 1952 through 1957.

The Irish Open and originally known as the Irish Championships or Irish Lawn Tennis Championships, and for sponsorship reasons also known as Carroll's Irish Open Championships was a men's and women's tennis tournament held at the Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club in Dublin, Ireland. Before the creation of the International Lawn Tennis Federation and the establishment of its world championship events in 1913, it was considered by players and historians one of the four most important tennis tournaments to win. the others being Wimbledon, the U.S. National championships and the Northern Championships. From 1970 to 1974, it was an event on the Grand Prix tennis circuit. The women's event was on the same tours as the men except for when it became part of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour from 1971 to 1973. The men's edition was played until 1979, and the women's ended in 1983 when they both ceased to part of the top level world tennis circuit.
