The Algerian Women's Volleyball League is the highest professional women's volleyball league in Algeria. It is run by the Algerian Volleyball Federation. It is considered one of the top national leagues in African volleyball, as its clubs have made significant success in African competitions.

The Algerian Volleyball Championship, now called the ABC National 1, formally known as the ABC Super Division, is the pre-eminent men's volleyball league in Algeria, National 1 is contested by 16 teams, with the two lowest-placed teams relegated to the Second Division and replaced by the two winner of the playoffs. From the 1963 onwards, GS Pétroliers and WA Boufarik both dominated Also there is Darak El-Watani won 11 titles but it no longer exists, though National 1 also saw other champions, including OC Alger, ASM Oran, USM Alger, RAM Alger, MC Oran, NB Staouéli, AS PTT Alger and CSM Constantine.

The FIVB Men's Volleyball Club World Championship is an international men's club volleyball competition organised by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The competition was first contested in 1989 in Italy. It was not held between 1993 and 2008, but since 2009, the competition has been held every year, and has been hosted by Qatar and Brazil except in 2017 and 2018 where both hosted by Poland.

It was not held between 1995 and 2009, but since 2010, the competition has been held every year, and has been hosted by Qatar, Switzerland, the Philippines, Japan, China and Turkey. The competition was held in Zhejiang Province of China in 2018 and 2019. After the 2020 championship was cancelled due to corona virus pandemic, the competition was held in Turkey in 2021.

The FIVB Women's Volleyball Challenger Cup is an international volleyball competition contested by the senior women's national teams of the members of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The inaugural tournament was played between 20 and 24 June 2018 in Lima, Peru. Bulgaria won the inaugural edition, defeating Colombia in the final and qualified for the 2019 Nations League.

The FIVB Men's Volleyball Challenger Cup is an international volleyball competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the members of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The first tournament was played between 20 and 24 June 2018 in Matosinhos, Portugal. The Portugal team won the inaugural edition, defeating Czech Republic counterpart in the final and qualified for the 2019 Nations League.

Algeria competed at the 2019 African Games held from 19 to 31 August 2019 in Rabat, Morocco. On 17 August, judo events began two days before the opening ceremony on the first day, Algeria achieved 9 medals, including two gold medals by Wail Ezzine in weight 66 kg and Faïza Aissahine in weight 52 kg. On the second and last day were content with only two medals silver and bronze.

The AVC Women's Champions League, previously the AVC Cup Women's Club Tournament and Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship, is an annual continental club volleyball competition organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), the sport's continental governing body. The competition was first contested in Thailand in 1999. It was not held in 2003 and 2020 due to 2002–2004 SARS outbreak and COVID-19 pandemic respectively.
