The event of Taekwondo competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics was held in Beijing. It was held between August 20th and August 23rd at the Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium. The event consisted of various athletes, there were 128 Taekwondo practitioners, consisting of 64 men and 64 women. These athletes competed in 8 events, where for the first time ever, two bronze medals were awarded per event.
The Korean Academy of Taekwondo is one of Colorado's Taekwondo and martial arts schools. The school was founded in February 1980 by Grandmaster Jae Kyu Chung. The school has produced numerous tournament champions and has trained thousands of students throughout the years. They have also contributed several non-peer reviewed articles on the physics and mechanics of martial arts. The school has several locations in Colorado and has at times had locations in Texas and Baghdad, Iraq.
Tõnu Endrekson is an Estonian rower. He is a five time Olympic finalist and dual Olympic medal winner. He was fourth in the double sculls event with Leonid Gulov at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and won a silver medal in 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing in the double sculls event with Jüri Jaanson. He is a member of rowing club "Pärnu Sõudeklubi" located in Pärnu.
South Korea competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from July 27 to August 12, 2012. This was the nation's sixteenth appearance at the Olympics, having missed the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow because of its support for the United States boycott. The Korean Olympic Committee sent the nation's smallest delegation to the Games since 1992. A total of 248 athletes, 135 men and 113 women, competed in 22 sports.

Maryna Konieva is a taekwondo athlete from Ukraine who took part in the London Olympics 2012. She won the Bronze Medal in the 2008 European Taekwondo Championships.
Akmal Irgashev is a taekwondo athlete from Uzbekistan. He finished in 5th place at the 2008 Summer Olympics, losing in the quarter-finals to eventual champion Cha Dong-min, and then to Chika Chukwumerije in the repechage. He also competed at the London Olympics 2012. He was the Bronze Medalist in Taekwondo at the 2010 Asian Games.
Kaino Thomsen-Fuataga is a Samoan sportsman who has represented his country in taekwondo and rugby union. He competed in the +80 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics; he was defeated by Anthony Obame in the preliminary round and was eliminated by Robelis Despaigne in the repechage contest.
Wei Chen-yang is a Taiwanese retired taekwondo practitioner. He competed in the 58 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics; he defeated Le Huynh Chau in the preliminary round and was eliminated by Alexey Denisenko in the quarterfinal. Wei retired from taekwondo in 2014.
Rasul Abduraim is a Kyrgyzstani taekwondo practitioner. At the 2008 Olympics, he competed in the men's featherweight competition but was knocked out by Daniel Manz. He competed in the 80 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics and was eliminated in the preliminary round by Mauro Sarmiento. He is a Kyrgyzstani Uyghur.
Farkhod Negmatov is a Tajikistani taekwondo practitioner. He competed in the 80 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics and was eliminated in the preliminary round by Lutalo Muhammad.
Nursultan Mamayev is a Kazakh taekwondo practitioner. He competed in the 58 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics and was eliminated in the preliminary round by Tamer Bayoumi.
Ruth Marie Christelle Gbagbi is an Ivorian taekwondo practitioner. She competed in the 67 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics; she was defeated by Hwang Kyung-Seon in the preliminary round and eliminated by Helena Fromm in the repechage contest. In the 2016 Summer Olympics, she defeated Farida Azizova to win the bronze medal. She was part of an Ivorian team that included Cheick Sallah Cissé who also won a medal and Mamina Koné. Gbagbi returned in the 2020 Summer Olympics, winning another bronze.
Seham El Sawalhy is an Egyptian taekwondo practitioner. She competed in the 67 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics and was eliminated by Elin Johansson in the preliminary round. She competed in the same event at the 2016 Summer Olympics, and was eliminated by Ruth Gbagbi in the first round.
Farida Azizova is an Azerbaijani taekwondo practitioner. She competed in the 67 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics and was eliminated by Karine Sergerie in the preliminary round. She also competed in the 67 kg event at the 2016 Summer Olympics but lost the Bronze medal match. She has qualified to the 2020 Summer Olympics through the 2021 European Taekwondo Olympic Qualification Tournament.
Feruza Yergeshova is a Kazakhstani taekwondo practitioner. She competed in the +67 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics and was eliminated by Nusa Rajher in the preliminary round.
Natalya Mamatova is an Uzbek taekwondo practitioner, who competed in the women's heavyweight category. She became one of the first taekwondo fighters in history to represent Uzbekistan at the 2004 Summer Olympics, and later earned a silver medal in the 67-kg division at the 2006 World Military Championships in Seoul, South Korea.
Khaoula Ben Hamza is a Tunisian taekwondo practitioner. She competed in the +67 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics and was eliminated by Anastasia Baryshnikova in the preliminary round. She also competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics, in the same category, losing to eventual gold medallist Maria Espinoza in the first round. Because Espinoza reached the final, Ben Hamza was entered into the repechage, where she lost to Karolina Kedzierska.
Afghanistan competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. The country's participation at Rio de Janeiro marked its fourth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics and fourteenth in total. Afghanistan had officially made its debut in 1936 and missed five editions since then. Rohullah Nikpai, who had previously won a medal for Afghanistan in taekwondo, did not participate. Afghanistan failed to earn a single Olympic medal in Rio for the first time since 2004.
