All American Institute of Medical Sciences is a private medical school located in the town of Black River, St. Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica, which began operations in 2009. [1] It was chartered by the Government of Jamaica in 2009, [2] and provisionally accredited by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP) in 2010 with an annual renewal to 2015. [3] The university began classes in 2011 at its Jamaica campus and graduated its first class in 2014. [4]

Programs

The primary educational program at AAIMS is a four-year program, which leads to a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. Half of this time is spent in Jamaica for preclinical sciences, where the remaining 2 years of clinical sciences are spent in Jamaica/U.S./U.K. at affiliated hospitals in clerkships. [5] To meet with the requirements for clinical experience, the University partners with the Western Regional Health and Southern Regional Health Authorities, giving students experience at the Black River Health Department and May Pen Hospital.

AAIMS also offers a program in Associate Degree in Health Sciences.

Accreditation

All American Institute of Medical Sciences received its charter from the Jamaican Government in 2009 [2] and is registered with the University Council of Jamaica, as a Tertiary Level Institute in Jamaica. It is listed in the FAIMER International Medical Education Directory (IMED) effective in 2011 and in the World Health Organization's World Directory of Medical Schools. Students graduating from AAIMS are eligible for the United States Medical Licensing Examination and those who pass the examinations are eligible according to the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates to register for and participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). [6]

AAIMS Associate Degree in Health Sciences is accredited by the University Council of Jamaica from March 01, 2019-February 28, 2023.

Through its program of certification, the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) assesses the readiness of international medical graduates to enter residency or fellowship programs in the United States that are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

American University of Antigua Caribbean Medical School

American University of Antigua (AUA) is an accredited, for-profit medical school in the Caribbean and is located in Antigua and Barbuda.

Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine is a professional doctoral degree for physicians and surgeons offered by medical schools in the United States. A DO graduate may become licensed as an osteopathic physician, having equivalent rights, privileges, and responsibilities as a physician who has earned the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. Osteopathic physicians, or DOs, currently have unlimited practice rights in roughly 74 countries, with partial practice rights in many more; DOs have full practice rights in all 50 US states. They constitute 11% of all US physicians. As of 2018, there were more than 145,000 osteopathic physicians and osteopathic medical students in the United States.

Saint James School of Medicine (SJSM) is a private, international medical school with two basic science campuses, one in British Overseas Territory of Anguilla, and the other in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, it is considered one school with two campuses. Saint James confers upon its graduates the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree.

Windsor University School of Medicine is a private medical school located in Cayon, Saint Mary Cayon Parish, Saint Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean. The Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP) is an accrediting body for the education programmes and schools of medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, nursing and other health professions in the 15 member nations of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). CAAM-HP was established in 2003 and is headquartered in Kingston, Jamaica.

Avalon University School of Medicine Medical school in Willemstad, Curacao

Avalon University School of Medicine (AUSOM) is a private medical school located in Willemstad, Curaçao, in the Caribbean. AUSOM confers upon its graduates the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. Administrative offices for the university are located in Youngstown, Ohio.

Destiny University was an offshore private medical school located in Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia. The school's offshore office was located in Butte, Montana. It began operations in 2001 as the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, St. Lucia, under which name it operated until 2008. At that time, the Destiny Group of Companies intended to build a new facility for the university in Vieux Fort, which would be fully operational by 2010. When the school began session in 2008, it was functioning as a "distance learning university" in the former Sandy Beach Hotel. The school operated until 2013, at which time it ceased operations due to financial constraints.

American International Medical University Medical school in St. Lucia

American International Medical University (AIMU) is an offshore medical school located on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. It operates a School of Medicine and a School of Nursing. It partners with universities and hospitals in the United States including Washington Adventist University (WAU) in Takoma Park, Maryland for independent support programs and offers joint classes with WAU for the AIM-U Premedical Science Program on the WAU campus. Future AIM-U programs on the WAU campus may include BSN Completion and Introduction to Clinical Science, as well as the opportunity for AIM-U students to complete the WAU MBA program.

Trinity Medical Sciences University Trinity School of Medicine is an offshore private medical school located in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the Caribbean.

Trinity Medical Sciences University (TMSU) is an offshore private medical school with its Basic Science part of the MD program, Pre-medical program and Masters program located in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the Caribbean and Clinical Science part of the MD program in Baltimore in the United States. It opened in 2008, as a fully accredited medical facility to respond to a shortage of physicians in the United States and Canada. International University of the Health Sciences (IUHS) is a private medical school located in Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis. It opened in 1998 with headquarters in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and its campus located in Basseterre. The school is accredited by the government of St. Kitts & Nevis, listed in the World Health Organisation (WHO) World directory of medical schools and has been assigned FAIMER School ID: F0001171.

University of Science, Arts and Technology (USAT) is an offshore private medical school located near Olveston, Montserrat. The university opened in 2003 with administrative headquarters in Colorado and its campus located in Montserrat. The school has graduates practicing in both the United States and worldwide and admits both domestic and foreign students.

Atlantic University School of Medicine

Atlantic University School of Medicine (AUSOM) was an offshore private medical school, located in St. Lucia from its foundation in 2010 until August 2017 and then for 5 months in St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda until December 2017, when it fully closed. Program director Paul Leone was responsible for operations and compliance of this medical school. He failed to provide satisfactory evidence for this medical school to be allowed to continue

Washington University of Barbados

The Washington University of Barbados (WUB) was established in 2016 and was granted charter from the Ministry of Education of Barbados during the same year. The university claimed to be devoted to preparing and educating students from across the globe to become professional doctors, but has been named as part of an international medical school scam. Both Dr. Rap and Mr. Dalchand have been arrested and charged before the Magistrates Court at District C in Barbados. Both are charged that they defrauded Casa Grande Hotel in St Philip; Furniture Ltd and Builders Mart. These are all businesses owned Mrs Ram Merchandani the owner of Casa Grande Hotel; the campus of the University. The charges arose when cheques tendered for services by these companies were dishonoured by the bank. The sums of monies are in excess of $300000.00 BDS. Both men are remanded in prison in Barbados awaiting hearing. They are set to reappear on Monday 22 September 2018.
