The Alley of Stars of Kazakh Cinema was unveiled in 2011 within the territory of Kazakhfilm studio, Almaty, Kazakhstan. The event occurred during the VII Eurasia International Film Festival and also associated with the 70th anniversary of Kazakfilm. [1]
The list of persons with the first stars included Шакен Айманов, Султан-Ахмет Ходжиков, Мажит Бегалин, Абдулла Карсакбаев, Сералы Кожамкулов, Калибек Куанышбаев, Амина Умурзакова, Ануар Молдабеков, Идрис Ногайбаев, Нурмухан Жантурин, Кененбай Кожабеков. [2]
Not only Kazakh nationals have their stars there. In particular, there is the star for Sergey Eisenstein, who was evacuated to Almaty during World War II and shot the first part of the film Ivan the Terrible at the studio then known as Центральная Объединённая киностудия художественных фильмов (which was the merger of the Almaty studio and Mosfilm and Lenfilm evacuated to Almaty).
The event included the presentation of the "Encyclopedia of Cinema of Kazakhstan". [1]
In 2000 the first attempt was made to establish the Alley of Stars in Almaty, near the Palace of the Republic. Eventually this alley had become neglected and was dismantled in 2011. [3]
A similar Alley of Stars was established in 2007 in Karaganda, for various workers of culture, near the monument "Miner's Glory". A star per year was supposed to be installed. The first star was installed for Bibigul Tulegenova, followed by Roza Rymbayeva, Dos Mukasan band, and Kayrat Baybosynov . This tradition was neglected as well. In 2014 the tradition was restored and the star for Yeskendir Khasangaliyev was installed. [4] [5]
Dariga Nursultanqyzy Nazarbayeva, born 7 May 1963) is a Kazakh politician. She served as a member of the Mazhilis from 2004 to 2007, then again from 2012 to 2015. From 2014, Nazarbayeva was the Deputy Chair of Mazhilis until she became Deputy Prime Minister, where served from 2015 until she became the member of the Senate in 2016. She served as the Chair of the Senate of Kazakhstan from 2019 to 2020 and is the daughter of former President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

On July 18, 2016, Ruslan Kulikbayev, a 26-year-old Salafi jihadist and ex-convict, shot and killed 10 people, including 8 police officers and 2 civilians, at a police station in Almaty, Kazakhstan before being apprehended in a chase and shootout with law enforcement. In addition to Kulikbayev, police arrested five other suspects involved in the attack, while officers shot and killed a sixth suspect. While in custody, Kulikbayev confessed to the attack after being arrested, claiming he perpetrated it due to a hatred of law enforcement.
Bakhytzhan Abdiruly Sagintayev is a Kazakh politician who was a Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, having taken office on 8 September 2016. He was replaced by Askar Mamin on 21 February 2019 when the government resigned. He has since 28 June 2019 served as the Mayor of the city of Almaty.

The House of Officers is a military/cultural building in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It serves troops and other personnel of the Almaty Military Garrison. Currently, the building houses the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, as well as other small organizations. From 1995–2012, the building housed the Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan. Since November 1993, the building has been part the Almaty State Historical-Architectural and Memorial Reserve.

Bibigul Akhmetkyzy Tulegenova is a Soviet-Kazakh opera singer, actress and teacher. Among her awards are Hero of Socialist Labor (1991), People's Artist of the USSR (1967), and the USSR State Prize (1970).
The COVID-19 pandemic in Kazakhstan is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. The virus was confirmed to have reached Kazakhstan on 13 March 2020. It involved two Kazakh citizens in Almaty who were recently returned from Germany. That same day, two more cases were confirmed with one female arriving from Italy in Nur-Sultan and the other from Germany in Almaty as well.
