Alliage was a French boy band active from 1996 to 2000.
Alliage was assembled during the 1990s boy band craze. The musical group was met with the most commercial success in France alongside fellow boy acts like Worlds Apart, 2Be3 and G-Squad. The band included four young men; Steven Gunnell, Roman Lata Ares, Brian Torres and lead singer Quentin Elias. Alliage, whose name translates as "mixture," was marketed as a multicultural fusion of several different ethnic origins: Corsican, Spanish, American, and Algerian-French, respectively. Some of their songs were "alliages" of several languages such as "Baila" and "Lucy".
The group's breakthrough hit was their first single "Baila" ("Dance, I love you, your memory still follows me") which sold more than 450,000 copies. Their first album titled Alliage, l'album was released in 1997, selling more than 500,000 copies. At the peak of their success, Alliage collaborated with Irish boy band Boyzone on "Te garder près de moi" and Swedish band Ace of Base on "Cruel Summer".
By the end of the 1990s Alliage's record sales declined as boy bands fell out of favor with the public.
Quentin Elias was the first to leave the group and embark on a solo career in 1999. Elias was based in New York City. He remained active as a recording artist, model and actor in films, television and theater until his sudden death in 2014.
Gunnell also become soloist and recorded an album of Catholic music called In terra, having rediscovered his creed and passion for the opera.
Ares began a career in photography and became the editor of the Spanish edition of V Magazine . Torres became a male model and actor.

A boy band is loosely defined as a vocal group consisting of young male singers, usually in their teenage years or in their twenties at the time of formation, singing love songs marketed towards girls. Many boy bands dance as well as sing, usually giving highly choreographed performances.

"Désenchantée" is a 1991 song recorded by French singer-songwriter Mylène Farmer. The first single from her third studio album L'Autre..., it was released on 18 March 1991 and achieved great success in France, topping the charts for more than two months. It was Farmer's most successful song and is generally considered her signature song.
Les Rita Mitsouko were a French pop rock group formed by Fred Chichin and Catherine Ringer. The duo first performed as Rita Mitsouko at Gibus Club in Paris in 1980. They went on to become one of the most acclaimed musical acts in France. "Marcia Baila", their debut single produced by Conny Plank, went to number 2 in the French singles chart in 1984. They then started a collaboration with producer Tony Visconti on two albums: the No Comprendo and Marc & Robert. "Singing in the Shower", sung as a duet with Sparks, was a commercial success in France and was then heavily played on US dance radio stations in 1988. Iggy Pop also collaborated with them on 1993's Système D, duetting with Ringer on "My Love Is Bad".
Quentin Elias was a French singer, actor and model. Of Algerian heritage, he was the original lead singer of the French boy band Alliage with Steven Gunnell, Roman Lata Ares and Brian Torres from 1996 to 2000. After his departure from the group, he relocated to the United States where he developed a solo singing career singing in English and French, releasing a number of albums, EPs and singles through his company Quentin Elias Music and distribution by Electro Boy Inc Records. He also worked as a model, acted in a number of feature films, television series and on stage and was featured in a number of advertisements. He took part in documentaries notably The Adonis Factor appearing on the documentary's promotional cover. He was active in body training, tattooing, in photography and in active blogging of his progress, all the while releasing more materials online. He was briefly involved in solo adult appearances on the Randy Blue gay male site under the pseudonym Q. He made a comeback in France starting in 2011, appearing in a number of tours, made new releases for the French and European markets, including remakes of earlier Alliage hits and had a number of appearances on popular French reality television shows and on talk and entertainment shows talking candidly about his past. On 25 February 2014, Elias died at his home in New York City.

Ella baila sola is a Spanish musical duet formed by Marta Botía Alonso and Marilia Andrés Casares. The group dissolved in 2001. The group is active right now touring Latin America with Marta, Marilia is not in the band anymore. As of April 2021, Marta & Marilia announced their reunion tour to commemorate the band’s 25th anniversary.
Vincent Belorgey, known professionally as Kavinsky, is a French musician, producer, DJ and actor. His production style is reminiscent of the electropop film soundtracks of the 1980s. Kavinsky claimed that his music is inspired by thousands of movies he watched as a young boy and that he has cherry-picked the best parts from them, consolidating them into one concept. Kavinsky has been compared to many similar French house artists including Daft Punk and Danger. He achieved greater mainstream recognition after his song "Nightcall" was featured in the 2011 film Drive. His debut studio album, OutRun, was released in 2013.
Zouk Machine is an all-female zouk group from Guadeloupe which had several hits, particularly in France, such as the summer number-one single on French SNEP Singles Chart "Maldòn ", in 1990 that sold over 1 million copies well more than any other Antillean band, even Kassav.
Chico & Roberta was a music and dance duo founded in 1989 consisting of two Brazilian children, Washington "Chico" Oliveira, also known as Uoston and Voston, and Roberta de Brito. The duo's first appearance was in the 1989 video clip of "Lambada". In 1990 they released the album Frente a Frente in Portuguese. The album is a certified gold. After initial success, the duo disbanded in 1993.
"Baila " is a song by Italian singer Zucchero. The song was first released as the lead single of his ninth studio album Shake, where it reached #1 in Italy and Spain, but achieved moderate success in the other countries. Zucchero also recorded an English language version for the single release. The song was later re-recorded in Spanish with the Mexican rock band Maná for the compilation album Zu & Co, but only reached chart success in 2006 due to its inclusion in the soundtrack of the film French Fried Vacation 3.
Rita Mitsouko is the début studio album by the French pop rock group Les Rita Mitsouko. It was released in April 1984 and includes the singles "Restez Avec Moi" and "Marcia Baïla".
Léopold Nord & Vous, then Les Chéris, is a Belgian band founded in 1983. In France, it can be considered as a one-hit wonder for its single "C'est l'amour", but both band and members had a long and successful musical career in Belgium.

"Baila Esta Cumbia" is a song recorded by American Tejano singer Selena for her second studio album, Ven Conmigo (1990). It was released as the second single by EMI Latin on August 28, 1990, behind "Ya Ves". It was composed by her brother–producer A.B. Quintanilla, and Selena y Los Dinos backup dancer, Pete Astudillo. The recording is an up-tempo Mexican cumbia song. It was well received by music critics who enjoyed its cumbia-feel and rhythm.
"Je l'aime à mourir" is a French-language song written by Francis Cabrel. It is taken from his second album Les Chemins de traverse released in 1979 that sold over 600,000 copies in France. The single "Je l'aime à mourir" became a hit single for Francis Cabrel in France, Quebec (Canada), Europe and internationally. Spanish singer Manzanita interpreted the song to Spanish flamenco audience making the hit song popular again for the second time. It is considered Cabrel's most definitive hit alongside "Je t'aimais, je t'aime, je t'aimerai".
Dominó was a Brazilian boy band created by television presenter Gugu Liberato that had its heyday in the 1980s and then in the late 1990s. This band sold about 6 million copies in Brazil in the 1980s. Its original lineup had Afonso Nigro, Nill, Marcos Quintela and Marcelo Rodrigues. The biggest hits were "Ela Não Gosta de Mim," "Companheiro", "'P. da Vida", "Manequim" and "Com Todos Menos Comigo."
