The Alliance Party of Kenya (APK) was a political party in Kenya.

History

The party was established by cabinet Minister Kiraitu Murungi in 2012, in an attempt to create a vehicle for Uhuru Kenyatta to use in his bid to succeed President Mwai Kibaki. [1] Kenyatta however opted to form his own party The National Alliance. APK was not formally a part of the Jubilee Alliance, but it did support Kenyatta's bid in the 2013 presidential contest. [2]

In 2016 the party merged into the Jubilee Party. [3]

Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta is a Kenyan politician and the current President of the Republic of Kenya. He served as the member of parliament (MP) for Gatundu South from 2002 to 2013. William Kipchirchir Samoei Arap Ruto is a Kenyan politician and the Deputy President of Kenya since 2013. He served as the Acting President of Kenya between 6 and 8 October 2014 when President Uhuru Kenyatta was at the International Criminal Court (ICC), in the Hague, Netherlands. He previously served in various ministerial positions, including the Ministries of Home Affairs, Agriculture, and Higher Education Science and Technology. He was the Secretary General of the Kenya Africa National Union (KANU), the former ruling political party, and the MP for Eldoret North Constituency between December 1997 and January 2013. He won the seat in the 1997 elections after defeating Reuben Chesire. He was appointed to the position of Assistant Minister in the Office of the President by President Daniel arap Moi in 1998. He was promoted to be Minister for Home Affairs in August 2002. Ruto has also previously served as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Constitutional Reform in the 9th Parliament.

Musalia Mudavadi Kenyan politician

Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi is a Kenyan politician, who served as the seventh Vice President of Kenya in 2002 and as Deputy Prime Minister from 2008- 2012 May when he resigned officially to join the presidential race. He is the current Party Leader of Amani National Congress after decamping from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) led by the prime minister Raila Odinga in 2012 where before his resignation he served as the deputy party leader.He was third in the 2013 Kenyan general election.

Raila Odinga Kenyan politician

Raila Amolo Odinga is a Kenyan politician who served as the Prime Minister of Kenya from 2008 to 2013. He has been the Leader of Opposition in Kenya since 2013. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Langata from 1992 to 2013. Raila Odinga served in the Cabinet of Kenya as Minister for Energy from 2001 to 2002, and as the Minister for Roads, Public Works and Housing from 2003 to 2005. Odinga was appointed High Representative for Infrastructure Development at the African Union Commission in 2018.

Kiraitu Murungi is the Governor of Meru County in Kenya. He is a former long-serving Member of Parliament for South Imenti constituency (1992-2013), former Cabinet Minister, and former Senator for Meru County.

Peter Munya

Peter Gatirau Munya is the Cabinet Secretary of Kenya's Ministry of Agriculture. He took over the ministry on 14 January 2020, after being transferred from the Ministry of Trade and Industrialization. He also served in the same capacity in the ministry of East African Community and Northern Corridor Development.

Johnson Muthama Kenyan politician and businessman

Johnson Nduya Muthama is a Kenyan businessman and politician. He has for long belonged to the Wiper Democratic Movement-Kenya party. During the 2017 general elections, he declined to defend his seat as Machakos Senator as a matter of principle protesting what he considered malpractices in the Wiper party's primaries. Muthama was the last MP of larger Kangundo Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya from 2007 to 2013. He was the first Senator of Machakos County since the promulgation Kenya's 2010 constitution which provided for a devolved system of Government. Muthama is the Chairman of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party. He was among the national leaders of the Coalition for Restoration of Democracy (CORD) and the National Super Alliance (NASA) which served as Kenya's political opposition movements in the periods 2013-2017 and 2017-2022 respectively.

William Kabogo Gitau is a Kenyan politician. He was the first and former governor of Kiambu County and a member of The National Alliance (TNA), one of the allied parties that merged to form The Jubilee Party.

2013 Kenyan general election

General elections were held in Kenya on 4 March 2013. Voters elected the President, members of the National Assembly and newly formed Senate. They were the first elections held under the new constitution, which was approved in a 2010 referendum, and were also the first run by the new Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). They coincided with the 2013 Kenyan local elections.

Coalition for Reforms and Democracy

The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy was a coalition of multiple political parties, built around the triumvirate of Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Moses Wetangula, to contest the Kenya general elections of 2013. The members of the coalition are Orange Democratic Movement, Wiper Democratic Movement, FORD-Kenya, Kenya Social Congress, KADU–Asili, Peoples Democratic Party, Mkenya Solidarity Movement, Chama Cha Uzalendo, Muungano Development Movement Party of Kenya, United Democratic Movement, Chama Cha Mwananchi, Federal Party of Kenya Following the hotly contested elections that saw Jubilee alliance win, Cord filed a petition contesting the results. The Supreme Court rejected Cord's petition and declared Kenyatta the president-elect.

Jubilee Alliance

The Jubilee Alliance was a political alliance in Kenya.

The inauguration of Uhuru Kenyatta took place on 9 April 2013. Kenyatta won 50.07% of the vote in the 2013 presidential election, after the supreme court dismissed the Raila petition on 30 March 2013. According to Article 141 (2) (b) of the constitution, in case the Supreme Court upholds the victory of the president-elect, the swearing in will take place on "the first Tuesday following the seventh day following the date on which the court renders a decision declaring the election to be valid." The event was held at Kasarani Stadium.

Kenyatta family

The Kenyatta family is the family of Jomo Kenyatta, the first President of Kenya and a prominent independence leader. Born into the dominant Kikuyu culture, Kenyatta became its most famous interpreter of Kikuyu traditions through his book Facing Mount Kenya.

The National Alliance

The National Alliance (TNA) was a political party in Kenya. It attained its current identity when it was taken over by Uhuru Kenyatta and rebranded as the vehicle for his 2012 presidential campaign.

Jubilee Party Nationalist political party in Kenya

The Jubilee Party of Kenya is the ruling political party of the Republic of Kenya. The party was founded on 8 September 2016, following the merger of 11 smaller parties. During the 2017 election, the Jubilee Party secured a plurality of seats in Parliament and the party leader, Uhuru Kenyatta, was re-elected president. Since January 2019, the party's stability has been threatened by growing infighting.

Irungu Kangata


Irungu Kang'ata is a Kenyan politician, the senator for Murang'a County, and the former Senate Majority Chief Whip. He is a law graduate from the University of Nairobi and a principal in the firm Irungu Kangata & Co. Advocates located at Flamingo Towers 4th floor, Upperhill, Nairobi. Kang'ata is the immediate former member of parliament for Kiharu Constituency and a former Councillor for Central Ward in Murang'a town. He is a PhD (Law) researcher at the University of Nairobi and teaches law at Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Nairobi.

Roselyn Kwamboka Akombe is a Kenyan former commissioner of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of Kenya.

Jimi Richard Wanjigi is a Kenyan businessman and political strategist.
