The Alytus Arena is a universal indoor arena in Alytus, Lithuania. It was opened in 1977. [1] Its reconstruction began in 2009 and was completed by the end of 2010. The arena was officially opened on 12 February 2011. [2] The arena hosted the Group C games of EuroBasket 2011 from 31 August 2011 to 5 September 2011.

Alytus County is one of ten counties in Lithuania. It is the southernmost county, and its capital is the city of Alytus. Its territory lies within the ethnographic region of Dzūkija. On 1 July 2010, the county administration was abolished, and since that date, Alytus County remains as the territorial and statistical unit.

Basketball Club Neptūnas, commonly known as Neptūnas or Neptūnas Klaipėda, is a Lithuanian professional basketball club based in Klaipėda, Lithuania. EuroBasket 2011 was the 37th men's European Basketball Championship, held by FIBA Europe. The competition was hosted by Lithuania. This was the second time EuroBasket had been held in Lithuania, the country having also hosted the 1939 championship. FIBA Europe asserted that Lithuania managed to organize the best European championship in its history. The top two teams are guaranteed spots at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Alytus Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Alytus, Lithuania. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of DFK Dainava Alytus. The stadium holds 3,726 people. Opened in 1924, the stadium was renovated four times: 1957–1958, 1993, 2007, and 2009–2010.

Žalgirio Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the New Town of Kaunas, Lithuania. The arena is located on an island of the Nemunas River and is the largest indoor arena in the Baltics. The arena's maximum possible seating capacity for basketball games is 15,415, and 22,500 spectators for concerts. The Žalgiris Arena replaced the Kaunas Sports Hall as a major venue in the city.
The Sunday Football League, SFL(lith: Sekmadienio Futbolo Lyga) is an amateur association football level 5 league in Lithuania. The league was established in 2005. It is managed by an organization VšĮ "Sekmadienio futbolo lyga“, run by Vilnius District Football Union (VRFS), independently from the Lithuanian Football Federation. Players from all other leagues except the top Lithuanian division A Lyga are allowed to play in the SFL as well as their respective league clubs. All games take place on Sundays, unlimited substitutions are allowed.

BC Prienai was a Lithuanian professional basketball club based in Prienai. They played domestically in the Lithuanian Basketball League every year since winning the promotion in 2009. During the 2008–09 season, then called Rūdupis, they became the champion of the NKL and won the challenge match for a slot in the LKL. In their debut LKL season Rūdupis took seventh place, while next two seasons brought BC Prienai two bronze LKL medals. BC Prienai played in EuroCup 2011–12 with moderate success; the team won 3 games out of 6, but nonetheless failed to qualify for the next stage. More recently, the team has become a strong competitor in domestic tournaments, more than once upsetting teams such as Žalgiris Kaunas and Lietuvos rytas Vilnius. In December 2017, in a highly publicized move, Vytautas signed American basketball players and brothers LaMelo and LiAngelo Ball.
The 2018 Karaliaus Mindaugo taurė, also known as SIL – Karaliaus Mindaugo taurė for sponsorship purposes, was the third edition of the Lithuanian King Mindaugas Cup. On 7 December 2017 it was announced that Klaipėda would host the tournament.
