The Oregonian is a daily newspaper based in Portland,Oregon,United States,owned by Advance Publications. It is the oldest continuously published newspaper on the U.S. west coast,founded as a weekly by Thomas J. Dryer on December 4,1850,and published daily since 1861. It is the largest newspaper in Oregon and the second largest in the Pacific Northwest by circulation. It is one of the few newspapers with a statewide focus in the United States. The Sunday edition is published under the title The Sunday Oregonian. The regular edition was published under the title The Morning Oregonian from 1861 until 1937.

Oswego Lake is a lake in Clackamas County,Oregon that is completely surrounded by the city of Lake Oswego. Though the lake is naturally occurring,it has been significantly altered because of the concrete dam that has increased its size to 431.7 acres (1.747 km2). The United States Geological Survey records the official name as Lake Oswego and,because of its artificially increased size,classifies it as a reservoir. To distinguish it from the city,however,the lake is usually called Oswego Lake.

The 2010 Portland car bomb plot involved an incident in which Mohamed Osman Mohamud,a Somali-American student,was arrested in an FBI sting operation on November 26,2010,after attempting to set off what he thought was a car bomb at a Christmas tree lighting in Portland,Oregon. He was charged with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction. An attorney for Mohamud argued that his client was entrapped. On January 31,2013,a jury found Mohamud guilty of the single charge against him. He was scheduled to be sentenced on December 18,2013,however the sentencing was cancelled in anticipation of the filing of new motions by the defense. In September 2014,Mohamud was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison with credit for time served,as well as lifetime supervision upon release in 2040.

He is known for co-founding several national LGBT rights organizations,including the Human Rights Campaign and the Gay &Lesbian Victory Fund. As of 2012,he is the CEO and President of Bean Investment Real Estate and resides in Portland,Oregon. Since 2014,Bean had been the subject of sexual assault allegations;all charges were dismissed in January 2022.

Billy John Williams is an American attorney who served as the United States Attorney for the District of Oregon from 2015 to 2021. He was most recently confirmed to the position by the U.S. Senate in March 2018. Williams was originally named Acting U.S. Attorney of the district in April 2015 and was appointed to the position by Chief U.S. District Judge Michael W. Mosman in February 2016. In November 2017,Williams was nominated by President Donald Trump to retain the position. His nomination was supported by Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden,Oregon's U.S. Senators.
