Amber Jones was leader of the Green Party of Saskatchewan from 2008 until 2009 and a candidate for the party in 2008 Canadian federal election and the 2011 Saskatchewan general election. Jones has worked as the Education and Environmental Performance Manager of the City of Saskatoon’s Environmental and Corporate Initiatives Division. [1]

Biography

Jones is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan. She ran for the federal Green party in the 2008 federal election in the riding of Saskatoon—Rosetown—Biggar placing third with 4.5% of the vote. [2] [3] [4] In the 2011 Saskatchewan general election Jones ran in the Batoch district placing third with 2.86%.

2011 Saskatchewan general election

The 2011 Saskatchewan general election was held on November 7, 2011, to elect 58 members of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan (MLAs). The election was called on October 10 by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, on the advice of Premier Brad Wall. Wall's Saskatchewan Party government was re-elected with an increased majority of 49 seats, the third-largest majority government in the province's history. The opposition New Democratic Party was cut down to only nine ridings, its worst showing in almost 30 years.

Gordon S. Wyant, QC is a lawyer and politician from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. He has served elected positions on two levels of government, on the provincial and municipal level. Wyant currently serves as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan since winning a by-election in 2010. He served as Minister of Justice and Attorney General since May 25, 2012, and as Minister Responsible for SaskBuilds since August 15, 2018. On August 23, 2016, in addition to keeping his current duties, he was appointed Minister of Corrections and Policing, and Minister Responsible for SaskPower. He also previously served as Deputy Government House Leader from May 25, 2012. Wyant lost the leadership election to Scott Moe, but Moe appointed him as deputy leader. When Moe was sworn in as premier, he appointed Wyant as Deputy Premier and Minister of Education.

2016 Saskatchewan general election

The 2016 Saskatchewan general election, was held on April 4, 2016, to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. The Lieutenant Governor dissolved the Legislature on March 8, 2016, setting the election date for April 4. The election resulted in the Saskatchewan Party winning its third majority government. This is the first time in 90 years that a party other than the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) or its predecessor, the Saskatchewan Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) has won three consecutive majority governments in Saskatchewan. It is also the first time that a centre-right party has won three consecutive elections in the province.

Jonathan Wilkinson is a Canadian Liberal politician, who was elected to represent the riding of North Vancouver in the House of Commons of Canada in the 2015 federal election, and re-elected in the 2019 election. He was sworn in as the Minister of Environment and Climate Change on November 20, 2019. Wilkinson previously served as the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans, and the Canadian Coast Guard. Before entering politics, Wilkinson was a constitutional negotiator and businessman who spent twenty years in the private sector, mainly with green technology companies.
