Ameerjan was an Indian film director, who has directed Tamil films. He was primarily active in the 1984-1991 and is most noted for his work on films featuring actors Murali and Karthik. [1] [2]
Ameerjan began his career as a protégé to director K. Balachander and then won critical acclaim for his directorial debut in 1984 with Poovilangu , which starred actors Murali and Kuyili in the lead roles. He went on to direct more than 20 feature films, both in Tamil and Telugu, often collaborating with actors Murali and Karthik. Ameerjan also worked on a high-budget action film Siva (1989) featuring Rajinikanth as well as on socially relevant films such as Thulasi (1987). As opportunities declined, he began assisting K. Balachander when he started making television shows and also directed his own shows. [3] In 2006, he also held the position of secretary in the Directors' Association of Tamil film makers. [4]
He suffered a cardiac arrest and died on 17 March 2015 in Saligramam, leaving behind his wife Son and a daughter. [5]

Kailasam Balachandar was an Indian playwright, film director, film producer, screenwriter and actor who worked mainly in the Tamil cinema. He was well known for his distinct film-making style, and the Indian film industry knew him as a master of unconventional themes and hard-hitting contemporary subject matter. Balachander's films are well known for their portrayal of women as bold personalities and central characters. Popularly referred to as Iyakkunar Sigaram, his films are usually centred on unusual or complicated interpersonal relationships and social themes. He started his film career in 1964 as a screenwriter and graduated to a director with Neerkumizhi (1965).
Venkat Kumar Gangai Amaren, better known by his stage name Venkat Prabhu, is an Indian film director, actor and playback singer in Tamil cinema. In addition, he also worked in Telugu Cinema. After completing his education, he began pursuing an acting career, with his first three ventures featuring him in a starring role, failing to release, following which he began appearing in character roles.

Murali Karthikeyan Muthuraman, better known by his stage name Karthik, is an Indian actor, playback singer and politician who works in Tamil cinema. He is the son of veteran actor R. Muthuraman. Known as Navarasa Nayagan, Karthik was one of the biggest stars in the industry in the 80s and 90s. He was first introduced by Bharathiraja in the Tamil film Alaigal Oivathillai (1981) and became a lead actor in Tamil films eventually. He has also appeared in some Telugu films where he was initially credited as Murali. Karthik is often appreciated for his ability to emote all forms of actions and emotions. He has acted in more than 125 films. He has been the recipient of four Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, a Nandi Award and four Filmfare Awards South.

Mozhi (transl. Language) is a 2007 Indian Tamil language musical romantic comedy film written and directed by Radha Mohan and produced by Prakash Raj. Poovilangu is a 1984 Indian Tamil-language film directed by Ameerjan, starring Mohan, Murali and Kuyili, the latter in her acting debut. It was released on 23 March 1984. The film is a remake of the Kannada film Prema Parva (1983). This film is the acting debut of Mohan who was then referred by the stage name 'Poovilangu' Mohan in the later phase.

It is a remake of the 1984 Malayalam film Adiyozhukkukal. The film, which notably features no songs, was released on 9 July 1987 and became a success.

The score and soundtrack for the film was by director Bharani. The film's title is based on a song from Paarvai Ondre Pothume, also starring Kunal.
