Aminu Muhammad Ahmad (born April 20, 1979), [1] [2] professionally known as Aminu Saira, is a Nigerian filmmaker, director, and screenwriter. His work includes such films as Jamila Da Jamilu (2009), Ga Duhu Ga Haske (2010), and Ashabul Kahfi (2014), which collectively earned him the distinction of Best Director of the Year at the 2015 Kannywood Awards (Jurors' Choice). In 2020, Saira launched the first Hausa language home video series, titled Labarina. [3] [4] [5]

Early life and education

Saira was born in Gwammaja, Kano State, Nigeria. [3] His father Muhammad was an elderly statesman. Saira grew up in the Kano metropolis with his two brothers and studied Quranic science at the Aminu Kano College of Islamic Legal Studies.[ citation needed ]

Career

Saira worked as a businessman before entering the Kannywood film industry in 2006 with his debut film, Musnadi. He directed, wrote, and produced Dare Da Yawa (2007), Jamila Da Jamilu (2009), and Ga Duhu Ga Haske (2010). He continues to write and direct under his production name, Saira Movies.[ citation needed ]

Saira was also awarded the best director by the Arewa Music and Movies Awards. [7] Ashabul Kahfi and Baya Da Kura were the two highest-grossing films of all time for Saira Movies, respectively. [ citation needed ]. In 2015, Saira was awarded the Best Kannywood Director. [14]

Kannywood Awards is an annual film event presented by Kannywood Guild of Actors honouring outstanding achievement in the Kannywood Movie Industry. It was first held in 2014, in Kano State. Nuhu Abdullahi Balarabe is a Nigerian film actor, Producer and Politician born and raised in Kano State. Nuhu is one of the most promising Kannywood actors, who acts in both Hausa and English movies. He has won the best supporting actor in Kannywood at the City People Entertainment Awards in 2015,

Halima Yusuf Atete also known as Halima Atete is a Nigerian film actress and film producer, born and raised in Maiduguri, Borno state. Halima Atete is well known in kannywood film industry for the role she always plays as the mischievous and jealousy-filled role. She joined kannywood in 2012 and made her debut in Asalina, a film that she produced. After her appearance in several movies such as Kona Gari, Asalina, Dakin Amarya, she won best new actress at the City People Entertainment Awards in 2013. She was nominated by the London based news organization African Voice over her excellent performance in the entertainment industry.
