Amy Wang (born December 2, 2002) is an American table tennis player who competed at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Early life and education

Wang started playing table tennis at age four, and is coached by her father, Xiaota. Her two older brothers, Allen and Eddie, are both table tennis players. [1] Raised in Sewell, New Jersey, Wang attended Washington Township High School. [2]

Wang attends the University of California, Los Angeles where she is majoring in neuroscience with a minor in accounting. [2]

Career

Wang made her international debut for the United States at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics. [3] [4] She made her first U.S. national team at 12 years old. [5]

In August 2019 she competed at the 2019 Pan American Games and won a bronze medal in the team event. [6] In September 2019 she competed at the 2019 Pan American Table Tennis Championships and won a gold medal in the team event and a silver medal in the mixed doubles event with Nikhil Kumar. [7] During qualification for the 2020 Summer Olympics, Wang was one game away from qualifying for the team. [8]

In November 2021 she competed at the 2021 Pan American Table Tennis Championships and won a bronze medal in the team event. [9] In December 2021 she competed at the 2021 ITTF World Youth Championships and won silver medals in the doubles and team events. [10] She then competed at the 2022 Pan American Table Tennis Championships and won a gold medal in the doubles event, and silver medals in the mixed doubles and team events. [11] [12]

In September 2023 she competed at the 2023 Pan American Table Tennis Championships and won a gold medal in the singles event. [13] In November 2023 she competed at the 2023 Pan American Games and won gold medals in the doubles and team events. [14] [15]

In March 2024, Wang was named to team USA's roster to compete at the 2024 Summer Olympics. [16] [17] During the singles event, Wang lost to Adriana Díaz in the round of 32. She won the first two games before losing the final four games in a row. [18] During the team event, Wang, Rachel Sung and Lily Zhang lost to Germany in the first round. [19]

He was ranked world No. 1 in 2003, 2011 and in March 2018.

Wang Nan is a female Chinese table tennis player from Liaoning. Wang was ranked world #1 on the ITTF ranking system from January 1999 to November 2002. She is left-handed, and began playing table tennis when she was seven years old. Her particular skills are changing the placement of the ball during rallies and her loop drive, as well as her notable speed. Wang has been the leader of the women's table-tennis team of China after Deng Yaping's retirement. In terms of achievements, she is one of the most successful female table tennis players having won the gold medal in each of the Table Tennis World Cup, the Table Tennis World Championships, and the Olympic Games.

Gao Jun is a Chinese American table tennis player.

Mo Zhang is a female Chinese-born table tennis player who now represents Canada. She was born in Shijiazhuang, and currently resides in Vancouver.

Yu Mengyu is a retired Singaporean table tennis player. Born in Liaoning, China, Yu left China in 2006 at the age of 17 to join the Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA) under the Foreign Sports Talent Scheme. In the same year, Yu made her international debut for Singapore.

Lily Ann Zhang is an American table tennis player who competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London with teammates Ariel Hsing and Erica Wu. She also competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio with teammates Jiaqi Zheng and Jennifer Wu. She is a six-time US national champion in women's singles. Zhang has won the US national championship in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2022. In 2011, she was a bronze medalist in women's singles and women's team at the Pan American Games and won the women's doubles title at the Qatar Peace and Sport Cup. She is currently a member of the United States National Women's team. She has been ranked as high as #2 in the cadet (U-15) world ranking and #5 in the junior (U-18) world ranking.

Insook Bhushan is a South Korea-born American table tennis player. She was a member of the South Korean women's team that won the bronze medal at the 1971 World Championships. At the 1973 World Championships, she was limited to the role of "non-playing captain" of the gold medal-winning South Korean women's team. In 1974, she emigrated to the United States, where her father had established an import-export business. The following year, she married the architect Shekhar Bhushan and in 1980 became a US citizen.

Chen Meng is a Chinese professional table tennis player and Olympic champion. She joined the provincial team when she was 9 and joined the national team when she was only 13 in 2007. She is the women's singles champion of the ITTF Women's World Cup in 2020, the ITTF World Tour Grand Finals in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 and also at the inaugural WTT Singapore Smash. She is also the silver medalist of women's singles in the 2019 World Table Tennis Championships and a double gold medalist in the 2020 Summer Olympics. She obtained her second gold medal in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Mima Ito is a Japanese table tennis player. She won a bronze medal in the Women's Team event at the 2016 Summer Olympics at age 15. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, she won the gold medal with her partner Jun Mizutani in the inaugural mixed doubles event, bronze in women's singles, and silver in the women's team event.

Adriana Yamila Díaz González is a Puerto Rican table tennis player. As of November 2022, she was ranked 3 and 11 in the Table Tennis World Ranking according to the International Table Tennis Federation. Díaz is sponsored by Butterfly and Adidas. Adriana is the sister of the table tennis player, Melanie Díaz, and cousin of Brian Afanador.

Wang Chuqin is a Chinese professional table tennis player. He is the top ranked player in the ITTF world ranking. Most recently, he was the silver medallist in men's singles, gold medallist in mixed doubles with Sun Yingsha and gold medallist in men's doubles with Fan Zhendong for the 2023 World Table Tennis Championships in Durban. He won the men's singles title at the WTT Cup Finals in 2021 and WTT Champions Xinxiang in 2022. He was crowned the men's singles title at WTT Champions Macao twice. Wang also won gold along with teammates Fan Zhendong, Liang Jingkun, Lin Gaoyuan and Ma Long at the 2022 World Team Table Tennis Championships. He won gold in the men's singles and mixed team events at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Michael Henry Dempsey was an American para table tennis player who competed in eight Paralympic Games. His best rank was world no.2 in class 4 in April 2001.
