1999 Pan American Games

The 1999 Pan American Games, officially the XIII Pan American Games or the 13th Pan American Games, was a major international multi-sport event that was held from July 23 to August 8, 1999, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and surrounding towns and cities. Canoeing competitions started the day before the games officially begun. Approximately 5,000 athletes from 42 nations participated at the games. A total of 330 medal events in 34 sports and 42 disciplines.

Badminton has been part of the Pan American Games since the 1995 Games in Mar del Plata, Argentina. Canada has dominated the badminton events since its inception. At the most recent edition of the games in 2019, in Lima, five nations won medals, with Canada taking home four of the five titles.

Bolivia has competed at every edition of the Pan American Games since the fifth edition of the multi-sport event in 1967. The first Bolivian medal was a silver in the 1991 taekwondo tournament. Since then the country has won one gold medal, three silver medals, and eight bronze medals between 2003 and 2019. Aside from two silver medals in taekwondo and tennis, and a bronze in cycling, all the other medals came from racquetball. As of the last Pan American Games in 2019, Bolivia is twenty-eighth on the all time medals list. Bolivia competed in the first ever Pan American Winter Games in 1990, however it failed to medal.

Table tennis competitions at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro were held in July 2007 at the Riocentro Sports Complex.

The Latin American Table Tennis Championships is a table tennis tournament for Latin America. It was first held in 1978 in Mexico City. The second edition was held in 1980 in Rio de Janeiro. After these two editions the Latin American Championships were suspended till 1989. Between 1989 and 1992, the tournament was held every year. Between 1994 and 2000, the tournament was held every two years. Since 2001 the tournament has been held annually. Since its first edition the tournament has included seven competitions; namely, men's single, double and team; women's single, double and team; and mixed doubles.

Table tennis competitions at the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo were held from August 7 to 13, 2003 at the Table tennis center. The winners of the tournament secured a place at the 2004 Summer Olympics.

Table tennis competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto were held from July 19 to 25 at the Markham Pan Am Centre in Markham. 2017 Canada Summer Games

The 2017 Canada Summer Games, officially known as the XXVI Canada Games, were held in Winnipeg, Manitoba from July 28 to August 13, 2017.

The Pan American Table Tennis Championships is a table tennis tournament for countries in the Americas. It was first held in 2017 in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. The tournament is a joint effort of the Latin American Table Tennis Union and the Northern American Table Tennis Union. Since its first edition, the tournament has included seven competitions; namely, men's single, double and team; women's single, double and team; and mixed doubles.

The Pan American Table Tennis Cup is an annual table tennis competition held in the Americas since 2017. It consists of men's and women's singles events. Only 16 invited players and no more than 2 players per association are allowed to participate in each event. Since its inception, it is recognised as the qualification event for the Table Tennis World Cup. The competitions are organized as a joint effort of the Latin American Table Tennis Union and the Northern American Table Tennis Union. The event is sanctioned by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).

The 1999 Parapan American Games, officially the I Pan American Games, was a major international multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities that took place in Mexico City, Mexico. Organized by the International Paralympics Committee, it marked the first official Parapan American Games. Over 1,000 athletes from 18 countries competed in the games. The games served as a qualifier for the 2000 Summer Paralympics, as gold-medal winners at Mexico 1999 secured a place at Sydney 2000. These Parapan American Games were held in the same year but at a different location than the 1999 Pan American Games, which were hosted in Winnipeg, Canada.
