Flávio Vianna de Ulhôa Canto is a Brazilian judoka who competed in Men's 81 kg Judo. He won the bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics. He is the founder and president of the Instituto Reação, and also presenter of the TV shows Corujão do Esporte on TV Globo and Sensei on SporTV.

Colleen Rosensteel is an American judoka and a Pan American games silver medalist.

Olia Berger is a female judoka from Canada. Her father is judoka Mark Berger, who was an Olympic medalist for Canada in 1984.

The judo competition at the 2007 Pan American Games was held from July 19 to 22, 2007, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the Riocentro complex. There were seven weight divisions, for both men and women, for a total of 14 events

The Pan American Judo Championships are continental judo Championships organized by the Pan American Judo Confederation since 2009. Previous championships were organized by the Panamerican Judo Union. From 2022 they are renamed to Pan American-Oceania Judo Championships.

The 2011 Pan American Judo Championships was held in Guadalajara, Mexico at the CODE II Gymnasium from April 1–2, 2011. The event is being held as a test event for the 2011 Pan American Games. Also this event is one of the qualification event for the judo events at the 2011 Pan American Games.

Mark Berger is a Ukrainian-born Canadian judoka. He won the gold medal in the men's heavyweight judo event at the 1983 Pan American Games and a bronze medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics. He also competed in sambo, winning silver at the 1988 World Championships.

Juan Carlos Jacinto Jiménez is a Dominican judoka, who played for the extra and half lightweight categories. He won the bronze medal for the 60 kg class at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Danielle Zangrando is a retired Brazilian judoka who competed in the women's lightweight category. She picked up a total of thirty medals in her career, including three from the Pan American Games, and a bronze from the 1995 World Judo Championships in Chiba, Japan, and also appeared in the 57-kg class in two editions of the Olympic Games. Growing up in Santos, Zangrando took up judo at the age of 5 following her brother to the dojo of sensei Paulo Duarte. Throughout most of her sporting career, Zangrando trained under Duarte as a full-fledged member of the judo squad for Santos FC Judô.

Judo competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru were held between August 8 and 11, 2019 at the Polideportivo 1, which also hosted handball.

Andy Granda is a Cuban judoka. He won the gold medal in the men's +100 kg event at the 2022 World Judo Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He is a two-time gold medalist in the men's +100 kg event at the Pan American Games.

Anriquelis Barrios is a Venezuelan judoka. She is a gold medalist in the women's 63 kg event at the Central American and Caribbean Games. She is also a silver medalist in her event at the 2019 Pan American Games and the 2020 Pan American Judo Championships.

Rebecca "Becky" Scott, née Trussell, is an American retired martial arts athlete who competed in sambo and judo. She is a US National Championships Bronze Medalist in judo. At the time, this was the highest level of competition as there was no world championship. She eventually became a team alternate for the first Judo World Championship for women. Scott competed at 149lbs. Scott competed at the Sambo at the 1983 Pan American Games Scott was a five-time National Champion in sombo. She additionally won the 1984 AAU National Women's Sombo championships. She later competed in the Sambo at the 1983 Pan American Games. It was here that she initially won the title. She also served as the coach for the Judo Junior National Team for the United States.

Qualification for Judo at the 2000 Summer Olympics was based on the IJF 1999 World Judo Championships in June 1999. The top 8 men and women from each division qualify, subject to a limit of 1 judoka per National Olympic Committee ("NOC") per division. Further continental quotas also qualify subject to an overall limit of 1 judoka per NOC. The qualification is allocated to the athlete.
