Andreas Zapatinas (born 1957) is a Greek automobile designer and industrial designer.
Zapatinas was born in Athens. He studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and graduated in 1986. [1] [2]
He worked at Centro Stile Fiat from 1988 until 1994, where he met Chris Bangle. Zapatinas was chief exterior designer of the Fiat Barchetta. [2] [3] [4] He also contributed to the design of Fiat Coupé and Alfa Romeo 145 . [3] [4]
In 1994 he followed Bangle to BMW. He designed the exterior of E59 project, a record CD aerodynamic study for a production 5 series 2 door coupe. The iconic design of the E59 had tremendous influence on most consecutive BMW by introducing a new surface theme and new volume architecture on the side of the vehicle. Also on the E59 Zapatinas introduced for the first time the "Angel Eyes" headlight concept with the help of Ludwig Deinzer, resident studio engineer. Later his proposal for the E46 compact, inspired by the legendary BMW 02 a 3 volume 2 door coupe, would be transformed after his departure from BMW to the basis for the first generation 1 series. The coupe and cabrio versions were very close to Zapatinas proposal that was used as the design basis during the 1 series development. [2] [3] He has been credited for the unique (for its time) rear end design of the Alfa Romeo 145. [5] In 1998 he became chief designer at Centro Stile Alfa Romeo. He directed the following projects: 156 GTA, 147 GTA, closing phases for 156 Sportwagon and 147. Also directed the restyling of 166 and interior restyling of 156. [3] [6]
In 2002 Zapatinas joined Subaru as Head of Advanced Design. He is responsible for the interior of the Tribeca and directed the design of 3 subaru concept vehicles. Tokyo Motor Show 2003, Subaru R1e, Subaru Scrambler and Tokyo Motor Show 2005 Subaru TPH. [7] At Subaru, he is often incorrectly credited with the controversial "spread wings grille" first introduced on the R2, and later the B9 Tribeca [2] [4] [7] and the Impreza, Subaru have said that this concept was proposed before Zapatinas joined the Japanese company. [8] This design created some controversy, and it was abandoned by Subaru. [9] This controversy is said to have been related with Zapatinas's departure from Subaru in July 2006 when he was its chief designer. [8] [10]
In 2006, as Industrial Designer, Andreas Zapatinas started cooperating with KLEEMANN Lifts designing elevator cabins and doors. [11] "We see the lift not as just a small square box that moves you up and down but as a means of transportation that provides a unique experience. It's not only the new curved shape and design. Above all, it is the different new feeling you get in the FUTURE TREND cabins. We design the lift as a high tech vehicle that provides you added sensations". With these sentences, Andreas Zapatinas, the designer of the Future cabins and doors, creates the concept of the new trend; the Future Trend.
As of 2010 he joined Changan Automobile, a Chinese automotive company with a design headquarters in Turin Italy. [12]
Alfa Romeo Automobiles S.p.A. is an Italian luxury car manufacturer and a subsidiary of Stellantis. The company was founded on 24 June 1910, in Milan, Italy. "Alfa" is an acronym of its founding name, "Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili." "Anonima" means "anonymous", which was a legal form of company at the time, as it was founded by anonymous investors. In the initial set-up phase, in order to have a building to produce cars, the company bought the Portello factory building of Darracq in Milan, which was closing up and selling all its assets. The brand is known for sport-oriented vehicles and has been involved in car racing since 1911. Alfa Romeo was owned by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the company that was responsible for the production of Alfa Romeo cars until its operations were fully merged with those of the PSA Group to form Stellantis on 16 January 2021.
Marcello Gandini is an Italian car designer, known for his work with the automotive design house Gruppo Bertone, including his designs of the Lamborghini Miura, Countach, and the Lamborghini Diablo.
The Alfa Romeo SZ or ES-30 is a high-performance limited-production sports car built between 1989 and 1991 by a partnership between Centro Stile Zagato, Centro Stile Alfa Romeo and Centro Stile Fiat. It was unveiled as the ES-30 at the 1989 Geneva Motor Show as a prototype by Zagato, although the car was mainly built by them - not designed mechanically.
Zagato is an independent coachbuilding company and total design centre located northwest of Milan in Terrazzano, a small village near Rho, Lombardy, Italy. The company's premises occupies an area of 23,000 square metres - 11,000 of which is covered.
The Alfa Romeo 156 is a compact executive car produced by the Italian automobile manufacturer Alfa Romeo. It was introduced at the 1997 Frankfurt Motor Show as the replacement for the Alfa Romeo 155. The 156 received a positive reception and in the following year went on to win the 1998 European Car of the Year award. The 156 saloon was discontinued in Europe late in 2005, while the Q4 Crosswagon continued in production until the end of 2007.
Christopher Edward Bangle is an American automobile designer. Bangle is known best for his work as Chief of Design for BMW Group, where he was responsible for the BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce motor cars.
The Geneva International Motor Show is an annual auto show held in March in the Swiss city of Geneva. The show is hosted at the Palexpo, a convention centre located next to the Geneva Cointrin International Airport. The Salon is organised by the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles, and is considered an important major international auto show.

The International MobilityShow Germany or simply International Mobility Show, in German known as the Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung, is the world's largest mobility show. It is held annually, with passenger vehicles, motorcycles and bikes being displayed as the IAA Mobility Show in odd-numbered years in Munich, and IAA Transportation for commercial vehicles in even-numbered years in Hanover, Germany. Before 1991, the show was held solely in Frankfurt.

The Alfa Romeo GT is a coupe automobile that was produced by the Italian automaker Alfa Romeo between 2003 and 2010. The GT was introduced in March 2003 at the Geneva Motor Show. Production commenced on 28 November 2003, the GT was built at the Pomigliano plant, alongside the 147 and 159. A total of 80,832 units were produced.
Walter Maria de Silva is an Italian car designer and former head of Volkswagen Group Design, until 2015. Since beginning his car design career in 1972 as trainee car designer for Fiat's Style Centre. De Silva has also worked as a designer at I.DE.A Institute, and as head of design for Alfa Romeo, SEAT and the 'Audi brand group'. He is presently CEO of the women premium footwear brand WALTERDESILVASHOES and Vice President of Styling and Design at FAW Group's Italian-based joint venture with Silk EV.

The Turin Motor Show was an auto show held annually in Turin, Italy. The first official show took place between 21 and 24 April 1900, at the Castle of Valentino, becoming a permanent fixture in Turin from 1938 having shared it with Milan and Rome until that time. From 1972, the show was held biannually and in 1984, it moved into Fiat's shuttered Lingotto factory.
Maggiora was an Italian coachbuilder from Moncalieri near Turin. They produced the Fiat Barchetta and the Lancia Kappa Coupé which was designed by Centro Stile Lancia. In 2003 the company was closed.
The Subaru Tribeca is a mid-size crossover SUV made from 2005 to 2014. Released in some markets, including Canada, as the Subaru B9 Tribeca, the car derives its name from the Tribeca neighborhood of New York City. Built on the Subaru Legacy platform and sold in five- and seven-seat configurations, the Tribeca was intended to be sold alongside a slightly revised version known as the Saab 9-6X. Saab, at the time a subsidiary of General Motors (GM), abandoned the 9-6X program just prior to its release subsequent to GM's 2005 divestiture of its 20 percent stake in FHI.
Ermanno Cressoni was an Italian car designer who worked for both Alfa Romeo and Fiat during his career. He designed or directed the design of a number of significant cars, such as the Alfa Romeo 75 and the Fiat Coupe. He was often referred to as 'Arch'. He died in Milan, Italy in June 2005, after battling cancer for over a year.
Enrico Fumia is an Italian automobile and product designer. He is widely known for his work with the car design firm Pininfarina, helping to design and package a new sports car version of the Alfa Romeo, which included front-wheel drive and traversely-mounted engines. Today he runs Fumia Design Studio.
London Motor Show, formerly the London Motorfair, is a motor show in England. It was held biannually at Earls Court Exhibition Centre, from 1977 to 1999. When the event won the support of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and P&O Events, in October 1993, the name changed from the London Motorfair to The London Motor Show.
