Andrei Socaci (born 19 June 1966) is a retired Romanian weightlifter. After winning a silver medal at the 1984 Olympics as a lightweight [3] he moved up to the middleweight division and won nine medals at the world and European championships between 1985 and 1992, including the European title in 1991. [4] After retiring from competition he stayed as a coach with his last club CS Dinamo București. [2]
Lavinia Corina Miloșovici is a retired Romanian artistic gymnast. An exceptionally successful athlete on the international competition circuit, Miloșovici, also known as "Milo" in the gymnastics community, is considered to be one of Romania's top gymnasts ever and one of the most prolific female all-around medalists ever, earning a total 19 World Championships or Olympic medals in a span of six years. She medalled in every single World Championships meet, Olympic Games and European Championships between 1991 and 1996, and is only the third female Romanian gymnast ever, after Larisa Latynina and Věra Čáslavská, to win at least one World Championships or Olympic title on all four events. Miloșovici was also the last gymnast along with Lu Li to ever receive the perfect mark of 10.0 in an Olympic competition and the last to receive the benchmark score of 9.95 at the World Championships. She was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2011.
Doina Ofelia Melinte is a retired Romanian middle-distance runner. She competed at four Olympics (1980–92), and won a gold medal in the 800 metres and a silver medal in the 1,500 metres in 1984. She won the world indoor title in 1987 and 1989 and the European indoor title in 1985, 1988 and 1990 in the 1,500 m. Her world indoor mile record of 4:17.41 in 1990, stood for 26 years.
Andrei Folbert, nicknamed "The Hope" by his fans and officially known as "The Magician under the boards", was a professional basketball player and captain of the Romanian basketball team for 25 years. As a player and coach he served the basketball magic for over 38 years. Folbert was known throughout his career for being a strong clutch performer. He decided numerous games with his plays. His competitiveness was visible in his prolific talk and well-known work ethic. Being the complete player, characterized by speed, long range shooting skills, astonishing dribbling and perfect ball handling, surprisingly assists and steals, he put his trademark delivering a spectacular game and creating a unique, unforgettable show remembered even after 50 years by the attendance. He is unanimously recognized, as the All Time Best Romanian Basketball Player.
Ion Panţuru was a Romanian bobsledder. He competed in two-man and four-man events at the 1964, 1968, 1972 and 1976 Olympics and served as the Olympic flag bearer for Romania in 1964 and 1972.
Andrei Mikalajevič Aramnaǔ is a Belarusian weightlifter, Olympic and World Champion.
Dumitru Pârvulescu was a flyweight Greco-Roman wrestler from Romania. He competed at the 1952, 1956, 1960 and 1964 Olympics and won a gold medal in 1960, placing third in 1964 and fourth in 1956. At the world championships he won a silver medal in 1961 and finished fourth-fifth in 1953 and 1958.
Dănuț "Dan" Grecu is a retired Romanian artistic gymnast who specialized in rings. In 1974 he became Romania’s first world champion in artistic gymnastics and was named Romanian Athlete of the Year. Grecu competed at the 1972, 1976 and 1980 Olympics and won a bronze medal in 1976; he had to withdraw from the 1980 Olympics due to a muscle tear sustained on the rings. In addition to his 1974 gold medal he won two world and two European medals on the rings. He retired due to injuries to his shoulder and biceps sustained in training while preparing to the 1980 Olympics.
Andrei Igorov was a Romanian canoe sprinter. He specialized in the C-1 10000 m event, in which he won silver medals at the 1963 World and European Championships, as well as two European titles, in 1965 and 1967. This event was not available at the 1964 Olympics, and Igorov had to compete in the C-1 1000 m. He won a silver medal finishing 0.42 seconds ahead of the third place.
Vasile Andrei is a retired heavyweight wrestler from Romania. He competed in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 1980, 1984 and 1988 Olympics and won a bronze medal in 1980 and a gold medal in 1984. At the 1984 Olympics he also placed sixth in freestyle wrestling, and in 1980 and 1988 served as flag bearer for Romania at the opening ceremony. At the world and European championships he won six medals in Greco-Roman wrestling between 1979 and 1987.
Rodica Arba is a retired Romanian rower. She competed at the 1980, 1984 and 1988 Olympics and won two gold, one silver, and one bronze medal. At the world championships she won four gold, one silver and two bronze medals between 1981 and 1987, mostly in coxless pairs.
Iuliu Falb was a Romanian fencer. He competed in the team foil events at the 1964, 1968 and 1972 Summer Olympics.
