Andrew Hurry (born 15 October 1964) is director of cricket at Somerset County Cricket Club.
A former Royal Marines fitness instructor and amateur cricketer with both Taunton and Wembdon Cricket Clubs, [1] Hurry joined Somerset in March 2001 as Fitness Instructor,introducing yoga as an activity for the 2002 season. [2]
For the 2005 season,Hurry was named Second XI coach,but left to coach the United Arab Emirates national cricket team.
Hurry rejoined Somerset as First XI coach in February 2006 [3] to replace England bound Mark Garaway,having achieved England and Wales Cricket Board coaching qualifications up to Level Four. [4] [5]
In the 2007 season,with Justin Langer as captain and Hurry as coach,Somerset won the County Championship second division with 10 victories in 16 matches,after finishing last in 2006. The county was also promoted in the Natwest Pro40 one-day competition. By June 2008 the county led the first division of the County Championship.
In September 2009,Hurry signed an extended contract with the club,tying him to Somerset until 2012. [6] As part of a restructuring at the end of the 2013 season,Hurry's role as first XI coach was subsumed into Director of Cricket David Nosworthy's role with Hurry becoming Director of High Performance responsible for overseeing the transition of young cricketers into the First XI environment. At the end of the 2014 season,Hurry was appointed by the ECB as the new head of the England Development Programme. [8]
In October 2017,Hurry returned to Somerset for a third time after being appointed the club's new Director of Cricket. [9]
Andrew Flower is a Zimbabwean cricket coach and a former cricketer. As a cricketer,he captained the Zimbabwe national cricket team. He was Zimbabwe's wicket-keeper for more than 10 years and is,statistically,the greatest batsman the country has produced. During his peak from October to December 2001,Flower was ranked as the best Test batsman in the world. He was widely acknowledged as the only Zimbabwe batsman of proper test quality in any conditions. After retirement,he served as the coach of the English cricket team from 2009 to 2014. Flower became the second foreign coach in the team's history. Currently,he is the Head Coach of Lucknow Super Giants in Indian Premier League. He also works as the head coach of the Multan Sultans and St Lucia Kings.
Marcus Edward Trescothick is an English former cricketer who played first-class cricket for Somerset County Cricket Club,and represented England in 76 Test matches and 123 One Day Internationals. He was Somerset captain from 2010-16 and temporary England captain for several Tests and ODIs. Since retirement he has commentated and coached at both county and international level.
Justin Lee Langer is an Australian cricket coach and former cricketer. He is the former coach of the Australia men's national team,having been appointed to the role in May 2018 and leaving in February 2022. A left-handed batsman,Langer is best known for his partnership with Matthew Hayden as Australia's test opening batsmen during the early and mid-2000s,considered one of the most successful ever. Representing Western Australia domestically,Langer played English county cricket for Middlesex and also Somerset. He holds the record for the most runs scored at first-class level by an Australian.
Andrew Richard Caddick is a former cricketer who played for England as a fast bowler in Tests and ODIs. At 6 ft 5in,Caddick was a successful bowler for England for a decade,taking 13 five-wicket hauls in Test matches. He spent his entire English domestic first-class cricket career at Somerset County Cricket Club,and then played one Minor Counties match for Wiltshire in 2009.

Founded in 1875,Somerset was initially regarded as a minor county until official first-class status was acquired in 1895. Samit Rohit Patel is an English cricketer. A right-handed batsman and a slow left-arm bowler,he plays first-class cricket for Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. Patel made his One Day International debut for England in August 2008,however was later dropped from the side after failing to meet fitness levels. Kevin James Shine is a former first-class cricketer and former coach of Somerset County Cricket Club,and was the fast-bowling coach for the England cricket team from 2006 until 2019. In November 2019 he joined Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club as an Assistant Coach.
Jason Ian Douglas Kerr is an English cricket coach and former first-class cricketer,who is currently head coach of Somerset County Cricket Club.
Michael Burns is an English first-class list cricket umpire and former first-class cricketer who played county cricket for Warwickshire and Somerset in a first-class career which spanned from 1992 until 2005. He also played Minor Counties cricket for Cumberland and Cornwall. An adaptable cricketer,he appeared for Cumberland and Warwickshire as a wicket-keeper,but when he moved to Somerset he developed into an aggressive batsman who bowled at medium-pace when needed.
Sarah Jane Taylor is an English cricketer and cricket coach. She appeared in 10 Test matches,126 One Day Internationals and 90 Twenty20 Internationals for England between 2006 and her retirement from international cricket in 2019 due to an anxiety issue. Taylor is the fastest cricketer,male of female,to earn their first cap in all three formats of international cricket,doing so in the space of nine days against India in 2006.
Craig Kieswetter is an English professional golfer and former cricketer who appeared in 71 matches for the England cricket team between 2010 and 2013. Born and raised in South Africa,Kieswetter moved to England to complete his education,and began playing county cricket for Somerset in 2007. Three years later,he made his international debut in a One Day International (ODI) against Bangladesh. A wicket-keeper batsman,he was considered a one-day specialist,and all his international appearances came in ODIs or Twenty20 Internationals.
Anya Shrubsole is an English cricketer who currently plays for Berkshire,Southern Vipers and the Southern Brave. She played for England between 2008 and 2022,and has previously played domestic cricket for Somerset,Western Storm and Perth Scorchers. She plays as a right-arm medium pace bowler and right-handed lower-order batter. She made her England debut in 2008,and was Player of the Match in the 2017 Women's Cricket World Cup Final. In 2018,she became the first woman to appear on the cover of Wisden Cricketers' Almanack. In April 2022,Shrubsole announced her retirement from international cricket.
Somerset County Cricket Club competed in four domestic competitions during the 2009 English cricket season:the first division of the County Championship,the Friends Provident Trophy,the first division of the NatWest Pro40 League and the Twenty20 Cup. Through their performance in the Twenty20 Cup,the team qualified for the Champions League Twenty20. They enjoyed a successful season,but fell short of winning any competitions,prompting Director of Cricket Brian Rose to say "We've had enough of being cricket's nearly men."
Lewis Gregory is an English cricketer who plays for Somerset County Cricket Club. A right-handed batsman and right-arm seam bowler,Gregory made his senior cricket debut in 2010,representing Somerset against the touring Pakistanis. He made his international debut for the England cricket team in November 2019.

Jack Martin Robert Taylor is an English cricketer,a right-handed batsman and right-arm leg-break bowler who currently plays for Gloucestershire County Cricket Club. He made his first-class debut for Gloucestershire against Derbyshire in August 2010. Taylor signed a two-year contract with Gloucestershire in February 2009. Taylor's younger brother,Matthew Taylor is also a professional player and has played more than 100 games for Gloucestershire.
