David Owen Nosworthy (born 25 December 1967) is a South African former cricketer. A right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm medium and off break bowler,he enjoyed modest success as a player playing 29 first-class matches and 14 list A games,but has made his name as a coach and his portfolio of first-class coaching roles include the South African franchises Highveld Lions and Nashua Titans,in New Zealand with Canterbury and in England with Somerset.
Nosworthy was born in Johannesburg,South Africa,on Christmas Day,1967,and took up cricket at a young age whilst growing up in Johannesburg. He played cricket for Grey High School in Port Elizabeth where he broke the great batsman Graeme Pollock's record for the most runs in a school season. [1] As a young player he played in England for Yorkshire club side Marsden CC. [1]
Nosworthy made his first class debut in December 1988 for a South African Defence Force XI against Boland;the match was drawn with Nosworthy batting at number 3,scoring 14 and 5. [2] It took Nosworthy a further two seasons to record his first first-class half century,scoring 85 for Northern Transvaal B against Natal B in December 1990. [3] Nosworthy moved from Northern Transvaal to Border cricket team at the end of the 1990/91 season. Nosworthy made the only first-class century of his career whilst captaining the Border B side against Easterns in November 1995,playing in a team including future South Africa test wicket-keeper Mark Boucher,Nosworthy scored 141 not out in his side's draw in match which turned out to be his second last first-class game. After retiring from playing he delved into the business world for a few years, [5] before in 2000 taking up a coaching role with the Pretoria based franchise,the Nashua Titans where he led them to two T20 trophies and numerous finals. During his time with the Titans he was also appointed as the South Africa U19 Head Coach on a tour to England and the South Africa A team Head Coach in a series against the Sri Lankans. Nosworthy left the Titans in March 2005, [6] and following this was briefly the head coach of the United Cricket Board's (now Cricket South Africa) National Academy.
Nosworthy then left South Africa for New Zealand where he in July 2005 he was appointed head coach of the Canterbury cricket team, [7] Nosworthy lead the team to a State Championship title in 2007–08 and victories in the State Shield and the Twenty20 competition in 2005–06. In 2007,Nosworthy was appointed as the coach for the New Zealand A team tour to Australia as part of the Emerging Players tournament. [8] In June 2007 it was also reported that Nosworthy had applied for the Indian national team position.
On 16 June 2008,Nosworthy quit as head coach of Canterbury to take charge of South African franchise the Johannesburg-based Highveld Lions,with Nosworthy explaining that "opportunity to coach a South African first-class side at one of the world's best Test venues was too good to turn down." [9] Nosworthy spent four years with the Lions before in June 2012 resigning his post 11 months before the end of his contract,although he did not win a trophy during his time with the Lions they reached two Twenty20 finals and qualified for the Champions League Twenty20 on two occasions. In December 2012,Nosworthy was appointed as Somerset County Cricket Club's Director of Cricket,following Brian Rose who stepped down at the end of the 2012 season. [11] On 29 August 2014,Somerset announced that Nosworthy was to leave his position at the end of the 2014 season. [12]

He was a batting all-rounder whose elegance at the crease drew comparisons with former South African captain Hansie Cronje. His medium-pace bowling was able to take the pressure off the front-line bowlers,with his ability to restrict the run-rate and take partnership-breaking wickets.
Andrew George Puttick is a South African cricket coach and former cricketer. He is the current batting coach of the Afghanistan national cricket team.
Alviro Nathan Petersen is a former South African international cricketer who played domestic cricket in South Africa for the Highveld Lions and in England for Lancashire. A right-handed batsman,he has represented South Africa in Test,One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 cricket. He was the captain of the Highveld Lions in South African domestic cricket.
Alfonso Clive Thomas is a South African former professional cricketer. He is a right arm fast-medium bowler and a big hitting lower-order batsman. Playing in South African domestic cricket for North West,Northerns,the Titans,the Lions,and the Dolphins,Thomas has also played English county cricket for Warwickshire and Somerset,Indian Premier League matches for the Pune Warriors,and in Australian domestic cricket for the Adelaide Strikers and the Perth Scorchers. In June 2014,Thomas took four wickets in four balls in a County Championship game against Sussex. He was a pioneer of death bowling in the early years of T20 cricket.
Johannes Gerhardus Myburgh is a former British-South African cricketer who played domestic cricket in England for Somerset County Cricket Club.
Robert Frylinck is a South African professional cricketer who played three Twenty20 International matches for the South African national cricket team between 2017 and 2018 and last played domestically for Dolphins.

Henry Davids is a South African cricketer. A right-handed batsman and a useful right-arm medium-fast bowler,Davids started his career with the Boland cricket team and then moved to the Nashua Cape Cobras. He performed well in the 2009 Champions League Twenty20 for the Cobras,finishing in the top-ten run-scorers in the competition with 137 runs at a strike-rate of 110.48. Davids then moved to the Nashua Titans at the end of the 2009 season and has had reasonable success,often appearing for the Easterns amateur team. He was appointed first-class captain of the Nashua Titans at the start of the 2012/13 season.
Beuran Eric Hendricks is a South African cricketer who plays as a left-arm fast-medium bowler and left-handed batter for Western Province. He made his international debut for South Africa in March 2014.
The Sydney Sixers is an Australian professional franchise men's cricket team,competing in Australia's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition,the Big Bash League (BBL). Along with the Sydney Thunder,the Sixers are the successors of the New South Wales Blues who played in the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash. The Sixers play at Sydney Cricket Ground at Moore Park in Sydney's eastern suburbs,whilst the Thunder play at the Sydney Showground Stadium in the city's western suburbs. The inaugural coach was Trevor Bayliss,who was replaced in 2015 by current coach Greg Shipperd. The Sixers' inaugural captain was Australian wicket-keeper Brad Haddin. Both Steve Smith and Moises Henriques have also spent time captaining the team.
Pierre de Bruyn is a South African former cricketer. Having made his debut in first-class cricket in the 1995–96 South African cricket season,de Bruyn proceeded to play first-class,List A and Twenty20 cricket for several teams as an all-rounder and occasional wicket-keeper until his retirement during the 2009–10 South African cricket season. Following his retirement,he moved into coaching. He was appointed the head coach of English county side Leicestershire in 2016,before resigning the following year. In December 2018,he was appointed as the head coach of the Namibia national cricket team.
Reeza Raphael Hendricks is a South African cricketer who plays for Gauteng and for the South Africa national cricket team. He is a right-handed opening batsman. He made his international debut for South Africa in November 2014 by becoming only the third South African to score a century on debut.

Pieter Willem Adriaan Mulder,known as Wiaan Mulder,is a South African first-class cricketer. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut for South Africa in October 2017 and his Test debut in March 2019. In domestic cricket,Mulder plays for Imperial Lions and Gauteng. He was born in Johannesburg and educated at St Stithians College. He played age-group cricket for Gauteng from under-13 level onwards.
