Anees Bazmee is an Indian film director, screenwriter and producer who works in Hindi cinema. He is best known directing for No Entry (2005), Welcome (2007) and Singh is Kinng (2008), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024).
Born to Urdu poet Abdul Hameed 'Nerang' Bazmee into a Gujarati Muslim family, Bazmee began as a child actor in movies like Kitaab (1977) before becoming an assistant director for Raj Kapoor's Prem Rog (1982) and then a screenwriter with David Dhawan's Swarg (1990). [1]
Bazmee did his directorial debut with Hulchul in 1995, however his first commercial success in came in 1998 with the film Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha , one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of the year. [2] He achieved further success as well as recognition by directing the top-grossing comedies including No Entry (2005), Welcome (2007), Singh Is Kinng (2008), Ready (2011), Welcome Back (2015), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024), while also receiving praise for directing the moderately successful romantic thriller Deewangee (2002). It is a remake of the 1993 Malayalam-language film Manichitrathazhu written by Madhu Muttam and directed by Fazil, which is based on a 19th-century tragedy that happened at Madhu's Alummoottil tharavad in Muttom in central Travancore. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja, and Ameesha Patel, alongside Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Manoj Joshi, Asrani and Vikram Gokhale. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Om Puri, Ranvir Shorey, Neha Dhupia, Javed Jaffrey, Sonu Sood, and Sudhanshu Pandey. In the film, Happy Singh (Kumar) is sent to Australia to reunite Lakhan Singh (Sood), a crime boss, with his ill father but finds himself facing love and trouble instead. The film also featured a song and a music video with American rapper Snoop Dogg.
No Problem is a 2010 Indian Hindi-language action comedy film directed by Anees Bazmee and produced by Rajat Rawail and Anil Kapoor. The film stars Kapoor himself, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Paresh Rawal, Sushmita Sen, Kangana Ranaut, Neetu Chandra, and Shakti Kapoor in the lead roles, while Ranjeet, Mukesh Tiwari, Jeetu Verma, Vishwajeet Pradhan, Suresh Menon, and Vijay Raaz are featured in supporting yet crucial roles. While Kapoor, Patekar, Rawal, Karnik, Irani, Josh, Dabi, Khan and Ranjeet have reprised their roles from the previous film, Abraham and Hassan are new additions to the lead cast. Made on a budget of ₹88 crore, the film was largely shot in and around Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Welcome Back was released worldwide on 4 September 2015.
