Angel is the fifth studio album by Australian country singer Gina Jeffreys. It was released in April 2002 and became her third album to chart on the ARIA top 50 after it debuted at No.42. [2]

"Angel" was produced by Garth Fundis, who had worked with Alabama, Don Williams and Trisha Yearwood. He signed up for the project on the spot after hearing Gina's third album, ‘Somebody’s Daughter’. Whilst discussing the album, Jeffreys said; "I feel I've evolved since ‘Somebody's Daughter’, and now have a more diverse range of musical influences. But I also believe my fans are evolving and maturing with me, and I'm looking forward to performing the new songs for them." [3]

The album was nominated for the 'ARIA Award for Best Country Album' at the 2001 ceremony. It lost out to "Looking Forward, Looking Back " by Slim Dusty. [4]

The lead single and title track, "Angel" received significant airplay on music video shows including rage and Video Hits and peaked at No.57 on the ARIA singles chart. [5]

At the APRA Awards of 2002, it won ‘Most Performed Country Work’. [6] "Angel" won Jeffreys her fifth Golden guitar award at the Tamworth Country Music Awards of Australia in 2002 for ‘Video Clip of the Year’. [7] The song was a finalist in the Australian Animation Awards of 2001. [8]

Catherine Britt Australian country music artist

Catherine Elisabeth Britt is an Australian country music artist who has had success in both her native Australia and in the United States. She started her career in Newcastle in 1999, she moved to Nashville from 2002 to 2008 and then returned to Australia. Britt has had three singles in top 40 on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs charts with "The Upside of Being Down", her highest, peaking at No. 36 in 2004. Britt has released seven studio albums in Australia, where all seven have appeared on the ARIA Albums Chart, Too Far Gone, Little Wildflower, Catherine Britt and Always Never Enough. All five albums have been nominated for ARIA Music Awards in the category, Best Country Album. At the Country Music Awards of Australia Britt has won four Golden Guitar trophies, Female Artist of the Year for "What I Did Last Night" (2009), "Charlestown Road" (2013) and "Boneshaker" (2016), and Single of the Year for "Sweet Emmylou" (2011). Britt married her then-partner, James Beverley, in October 2013; the couple have two children. Britt was diagnosed with breast cancer in early 2015; she underwent surgery and chemotherapy.

OShea (band)

O'Shea is an Australian country music duo composed of Mark and Jay. The duo commenced in 2007 and after relocating to Nashville in 2007, the duo has seen success as artists and songwriters, with nine #1 singles on the Australian country charts, as well as finishing fifth in the Country Music Television 2009 series Can You Duet. The duo have released four studio albums, all of which have peaked inside the ARIA top 50.

Gang of Youths are an Australian alternative rock group from Sydney based in London. The band consists of principal songwriter David Le'aupepe, Max Dunn, Jung Kim, Donnie Borzestowski (drums), and Tom Hobden. Kim is Korean-American, Dunn is from New Zealand, Borzestowski is Polish-Australian, Hobden is British, while Le'aupepe is of Samoan and Austrian-Jewish descent. They are mostly known for their 2017 single "Let Me Down Easy" which became their first top 50 single in Australia. Their debut album, The Positions, peaked at No. 5 on the ARIA Albums Chart in May 2015 and was nominated for multiple ARIA Awards.
