History

At its heyday, the brand Anikspray was originally developed and owned by Lipton India and Hindustan Unilever Limited. [1] [2] [3] In 1999, Hindustan Unilever sold its dairy products business as well the brands Anik, Anikspray and Anik Ghee to Nutricia (India) Private Limited, which was owned by the Dutch consumer products giant Numico. [2] [4]

In 2003, Numico decided to cease its operations in India and sold Nutricia to a consortium of four companies headed by Mirage Impex. [5] [6] The deal involving Mirage Impex was steered by Ashok Phadnis, a dairy business veteran who was previously the managing director of the Madhya Pradesh Dairy Federation. [5] [8]

Current Operations

Today, Anik Spray is manufactured by Anik Milk Products Private Limited, based in the city of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. [9] [7] Other than Anik Spray, the company also produces ghee that is sold under the brand name Anik Ghee. [9] [7]

Moods Condoms is a manufacturer of condoms made from natural rubber latex. It is manufactured HLL Lifecare Limited, a Government of India undertaking. HLL was started off in 1966 with the objective of producing condoms for the National Family Planning Program. Moods Condoms came into existence in mid-1968, when HLL Lifecare Limited decided to develop a product to target the premium and upper middle class segment of the urban population in India. HLL today is one of the world's largest manufacturers of condoms. As of December 2012, its annual production totals around 800 million pieces across the globe.

Kodaikanal mercury poisoning

Kodaikanal mercury poisoning is a proven case of mercury contamination at the hill station of Kodaikanal by Hindustan Unilever in the process of making mercury thermometers for export around the world. The exposé of the environmental abuse led to the closure of the factory in 2001 and opened up a series of issues in India such as corporate liability, corporate accountability and corporate negligence.

The Brooke Bond Taj Mahal Tea House is a tea house and restaurant owned and operated by Hindustan Unilever Limited that is located in Bandra, West Mumbai, India. It opened for business in September 2015. The establishment is 3,500 square feet in size and seats around 80 patrons. It is Hindustan Unilever's first tea restaurant business. The establishment was designed by brothers Ayaz Basrai and Zameer Basrai, both from Bandra.

Tata Oil Mills Company also known as TOMCO, was a public limited company and part of Tata Group. It was incorporated on 10 December 1917 with head office at Bombay by Dorabji Tata. It was into manufacture and sale soaps, detergents, cooking oils, glycerine, cattle and poultry feeds, de-oiled meals, oil cakes and fish products. The manufacturing units were spread over India in Maharahstra, West Bengal, Kerala, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. In 1952 Lakme was started as a 100% subsidiary of Tata Oil Mills by JRD Tata. The company owned famous bathing soap brands like Hamam, Okay, Moti to name a few, they also had a detergent brand named as Magic. During early 1990s Tata's wanted to move out of businesses that did not meet their long term strategy and TOMCO was sold to their competitors Hindustan Lever Limited and it was amalgamated into HLL on 28 December 1994 with retrospective effect from 1 April 1993.

Kwality Ltd. is a processor and handler of dairy products in India listed on Bombay Stock exchange as public Limited Company. The company produces various types of dairy products, which include milk, ghee, butter, milk powder, curd, yogurt, cheese etc. The company has established procurement network which comprise 350,000 farmer families across 4,700 villages in North India. Kwality Ltd. has six plants in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan with processing capacity of 3.4 million liters milk per day.

Gyan Dairy is a North Indian dairy company headquartered in UP, India and is known for the processing and distribution of dairy products produced in regionally located facilities. Gyan Dairy manufactures, markets and sells a full line of dairy products such as Milk, Lassi, Curd, Butter, and Ghee. Its tagline "always fresh, always pure" was unveiled in 2017, along with the company's theme song 'Shuddh aur taaza, Gyan ka waada'.
