Anita Turner is a British script editor and television producer. From 2008 to 2009, Turner was the series producer of the British television soap opera Emmerdale . She left the role after it was reported that her leadership on the soap had resulted in cast morale dropping, as well as being criticised for the controversial sacking of a child actor. Turner has since gone on to produce a series of the CBBC series Rocket's Island , as well as working as a script editor on various CBBC projects.

Career

Turner initially worked as a script editor for the ITV soap operaEmmerdale and held that role for three years. [1] She eventually replaced Kathleen Beedles as the series producer of Emmerdale in early 2008. [2] [3] She quickly "made her mark by axing characters and changing storylines", and later that year, it was reported by Digital Spy that cast morale was down since Turner had become the series producer. [4] She also received criticism for firing a child actor, Benjamin Shooter, who portrayed Samson Dingle, for crying on set. Shooter's mother felt that her son had been treated like a "prop" and criticised Turner for allowing her young child to be in "horrifying scenes" including armed robber Sam Dingle (James Hooton) turning himself in to the police. [5] On 15 January 2009, it was announced that Turner would leave her role as series producer of the show. [6]

In 2015, she was a producer on the CBBC series Rocket's Island , as well as producing an episode of Jamie Johnson . She also worked as a script editor on several CBBC series including Stepping Up , The Sparticle Mystery and So Awkward . [7]

Emmerdale is a British soap opera that is broadcast on ITV1. The show is set in Emmerdale, a fictional village in the Yorkshire Dales. Created by Kevin Laffan, Emmerdale Farm was first broadcast on 16 October 1972. Interior scenes have been filmed at the Leeds Studios since its inception. Lucy Kate Pargeter is an English actress, known for her roles as Helen Raven in Crossroads (2002–2003) and Chas Dingle in Emmerdale (2002–present). She also finished third in the 13th series of the ITV reality show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2013. For her role in Emmerdale, she won the 2019 British Soap Award for Best Actress.

Mandy Dingle is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera, Emmerdale, played by Lisa Riley. She made her first appearance during the episode broadcast on 20 July 1995 and departed on 28 September 2000. She returned briefly on 16 November 2001 and departed on 26 November 2001. Riley agreed to reprise the role in late 2018 for a brief stint, and made her on-screen return on 4 January 2019, however she departed once again on 8 January. On 10 July 2019, it was announced that Riley would be returning once again on a permanent basis, and Mandy reappeared from 12 September 2019.

Kate Oates is a British television producer, who was born in Nottingham and graduated from Warwick University. She began her career working as a researcher and editorial assistant for Germaine Greer, before becoming a script editor for the soap opera Crossroads. In 2003, she joined the radio soap The Archers as a producer, a position which Oates credits as the majority of her training. After resigning from this job, Oates began working on the ITV soap opera Emmerdale as a script editor, during which time she assisted with the soap's fortieth anniversary celebrations and worked on British Soap Award-winning storylines. She remained in the position until 2012 when she joined Coronation Street as the assistant producer.

Isobel Victoria Steele is an English actress, she is best known for her role as Liv Flaherty in Emmerdale from February 2016 to October 2022 when her character was killed off as part of the show's 50th anniversary. For her role as Liv, she has been nominated for and won various awards, including a nomination for the British Soap Award for Best Newcomer in 2016, and winning the Best Young Actor award at both the British Soap Awards and the Inside Soap Awards.
