Anjali Paigankar is a Hindi and Marathi film actress.
A graduate of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, Anjali appeared in Murder at Monkey Hill , Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s diploma film as a final year student there in 1976. The short film was noticed in parallel cinema circles earning work for many of the students involved in the film. The previous year she had already appeared in a short role in Shyam Benegal’s Charandas Chor . [1] In 1977, she appeared in Amol Palekar starrer Taxi-Taxie but the film flopped. [2]
Anjali went on to act in a Marathi film Sarvasakshi and a Hindi film Dillagi , both released in 1978. The same year she appeared as a main female lead in the film Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan .[ citation needed ] She also acted in Chakra and Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Ata Hai after that.

Vishwanath Patekar, better known as Nana Patekar, is an Indian actor, screenwriter, film maker, and a former Indian Territorial Army officer, mainly working in Hindi and Marathi cinema. He is regarded as one of the finest and influential actors in Indian Cinema, Patekar is recipient of three National Film Awards, four Filmfare Awards and two Filmfare Awards Marathi for his acting performances. Charandas Chor is a 1975 children's film by noted director Shyam Benegal, based on the famous play by Habib Tanvir, which itself was an adaptation of a classical Rajasthani folktale by Vijaydan Detha. The lyrics of the film were also by Habib Tanvir.
Habib Tanvir was one of the most popular Indian Urdu, Hindi playwrights, a theatre director, poet and actor. He was the writer of plays such as, Agra Bazar (1954) and Charandas Chor (1975). A pioneer in Urdu and Hindi theatre, he was most known for his work with Chhattisgarhi tribals, at the Naya Theatre, a theatre company he founded in 1959 in Bhopal. The black-and-white film was a debut feature of Phutane, a former journalist, art teacher, poet and actor, inaugurating New Indian Cinema productions in Marathi. The film deals with the theme of superstitions of the old India colliding with the medical advancements of the modern world.
