Anna Ceresole (born 1961) is an Italian high energy physicist and Director of Research in Theoretical Physics at the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN). She is interested in quantum field theory, supergravity and string theory.
Ceresole was born in Turin and studied at the University of Turin. [1] Her thesis considered Kaluza–Klein theory and supergravity, which resulted in published work with Pietro Fré and Hermann Nicolai. [2] She earned her PhD at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1989, working with Peter van Nieuwenhuizen. [1] Here she was a Fulbright Program Fellow. [1]
Ceresole joined California Institute of Technology in 1989, working as a postdoctoral fellow. [1] She was appointed as a research fellow at the University of Turin in 1992. [1] In 1998 she joined CERN as a visiting scientist. She was made research professor at the Polytechnic University of Turin in 2003. [1] In 2004 she described a superpotential that supported a class of stable extremal black holes. [3] She works on special Kähler manifold geometry and black hole solutions in supergravity. [4] [5]
She was a team member of the European Research Council Advanced Investigator Grant, Supersymmetry, Quantum Gravity and Gauge Fields. [6] She was a working group leader for the European Cooperation in Science and Technology String Theory Universe COST action. [7] [8]
In 2015 she was appointed as the coordinator of the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare Theory Group in Torino. [9] Since 2017 she is part of the Management Committee of the Arnold Regge Centre for Algebra,Geometry and Theoretical Physics, a collaboration between the University of Turin and University of Eastern Piedmont. In theoretical physics, supergravity is a modern field theory that combines the principles of supersymmetry and general relativity; this is in contrast to non-gravitational supersymmetric theories such as the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. Supergravity is the gauge theory of local supersymmetry. Since the supersymmetry (SUSY) generators form together with the Poincaré algebra a superalgebra, called the super-Poincaré algebra, supersymmetry as a gauge theory makes gravity arise in a natural way.

Massimo Porrati is a professor of physics and a member of the Center for Cosmology and Particle Physics at New York University. Sergio Ferrara is an Italian physicist working on theoretical physics of elementary particles and mathematical physics. He is renowned for the discovery of theories introducing supersymmetry as a symmetry of elementary particles and of supergravity, the first significant extension of Einstein's general relativity, based on the principle of "local supersymmetry". He is an emeritus staff member at CERN and a professor emeritus at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Renata Elizaveta Kallosh is a Russian-American theoretical physicist. She is a professor of physics at Stanford University, working there on supergravity, string theory and inflationary cosmology.
