Anne Mary Bailey (born 1 June 1951) is a British-born ten-pin bowling champion. She is best known for winning the Bronze medal in the 1972 AMF World Cup tournament, held in Hamburg, West Germany.

Bailey was born in Kent, England, but relocated to Hong Kong, China as a child. A full-time secretary by trade, [1] she became a local bowling phenomenon around the country, which was under British rule at the time. Along with her father Bill Bailey (born 1919—d. 1979), the "father-and-daughter" team were local celebrities throughout the Asian as well as English bowling community.

AMF Bowling World Cup

Bailey's fame led to her inclusion in the AMF Bowling World Cup tournament in 1972. Representing Hong Kong, Bailey was one of three women who took "one giant step for womankind," as the media reported. [1] For the first time in bowling history, female bowlers joined males in the World Cup competition. Mexico's grandmotherly Irma Urrea won the Gold Medal in the tournament, followed by Silver Medalist Oy Sri-Saard of Thailand. In contrast with her older opponents, Bailey was just 21 at the time of the tournament, of which she won the Bronze Medal. [1]

Upon her return trip to China, Bailey arrived at Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong and was treated "like royalty," as she put it in 2008. "It was such a wonderful experience." [2]

Bailey retired from the sport in the late 1990s. During her career, she bowled with a 15-pound ball, complete with a semi-fingertipped grip. [2]

Personal life

Bailey currently resides in the Kent, England, and goes by her married name of Anne Huddleston. She has one daughter. Bailey looks back on her bowling career with great fondness, and is proud to have been a part of "making history." [2]

QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup annual Ten-pin bowling championship

The QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup, previously known as the International Masters and AMF Bowling World Cup, is an annual Ten-pin bowling championship sponsored by QubicaAMF Worldwide, and the largest in bowling in terms of number of participating nations. Each nation chooses one male and/or one female bowler to represent them in the tournament, and in the majority of cases, this is done by running a qualifying tournament, the winners of which are chosen.

Lynda Barnes is one of the world's leading female ten-pin bowlers. She is a former member of the PWBA. In 1999, Lynda married Chris Barnes who is also a leading Ten-pin bowler on the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) tour. The couple's twin sons, Troy and Ryan, were born in May 2002. Lynda is a current member of Team USA.

Michael Schmidt is a Canadian Ten-pin bowler, best known for his performances in the QubicaAMF World Cup.

Hong Kong womens national cricket team

The Hong Kong women's cricket team is the team that represents the Chinese special administrative region of Hong Kong in international women's cricket. In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) status to all its members. Therefore, all Twenty20 matches played between Hong Kong women and other ICC members after 1 July 2018 will be a full WT20I. Hong Kong made her Twenty20 International debut against Indonesia on 12 January 2019 at Bangkok during the Thailand Women's T20 Smash.

Laura Rhoney is a Scottish ten-pin bowler. She finished in 4th position of the combined rankings at the 2006 AMF World Cup. During the final round she finished in 5th position. She started the tournament in style by becoming the first 300 game of the tournament in the third game of the women's first block, it was her second career 300 game. She was only the sixth ever female player to achieve this on a World Cup event. In May 2015 Rhoney married Rebecca laird and now lives with her and her son Hayden Laura's mum has been in hospital numerous times most memorable being her mum took a stroke on a flight coming back from Laura's honeymoon in Orlando

Putty Insavilla Armein is an Indonesian ten-pin bowler. She finished in 8th position of the combined rankings at the 2006 AMF World Cup. During the final round she finished in 8th position as well. Her father name is Haji Armein Yuspar and her mother name is Irma Alfat. She won two gold and two bronze medals for Indonesia bowling national team in 2005 Southeast Asian Games in Manila.

Mor Aviram is an Israeli ten-pin bowler. She finished in 18th position of the combined rankings at the 2006 AMF World Cup. She represented Israel in the 2004 and 2008 AMF World Cups as well.

Shalin Zulkifli is a Malaysian professional ten pin bowler and former Asian No. 1. She has played and won various national and international tournaments, and has at various points in her career ranked No. 1 of the professional ten pin bowlers in Malaysia and Asia. During 2001 World Tenpin Masters event, she became the first female champion of this event, defeating Finland's Tore Torgersen in the finals. In 2004, she was inductee into International Bowling Hall of Fame. Bowling in the USA, she was a quarterfinalist at the 2008 US Women's Open, and competed in the 2008-09 PBA Women's Series.

Jeanette Baker-Flynn is an Australian ten-pin bowler. She is the first Australian to win a World Tenpin Championship. She Won the AMF World Cup in 1982 in Scheveningen in the Netherlands and for a second time in 1983 in Mexico City, making her the only athlete to win back-to-back AMF World Cup titles ever. She won both titles from top seed.

Nachimi Itakura is a Japanese female professional ten-pin bowler. She is a member of the Japan Professional Bowling Association, license no. 372.

Cathy Townsend was a Canadian ten-pin bowler. Townsend became one of the first Canadian women to win gold at the World Bowling American Zone Championships in 1974. The following year, she was the first woman of Canada to win the QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. Townsend was inducted into the Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 1977 and the Canadian Tenpin Federation Hall of Fame in 1994.
