The Antofagasta Chile Temple is a temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Antofagasta, Chile. [3]
The intent to construct the temple was announced by church president Russell M. Nelson on April 7, 2019, cconcurrently with 7 other temples. [4] At the time, the number of operating or announced temples was 162. [5]
On November 27, 2020, a groundbreaking ceremony to signify beginning of construction was held, with Juan Pablo Villar, a general authority and member of the presidency of the church's South America South Area, presiding. [3] It was dedicated on June 15, 2025 by Gary E. Stevenson.[ citation needed ] It is the third temple in Chile. [6]
