Antonio Vargas (born August 15, 1996) is an American-French [2] professional boxer who has held the World Boxing Association (WBA) bantamweight title since May 2025.
Vargas was born in Houston, Texas, he was raised in Kissimmee, Florida. Born to Mexican-French parents, Vargas holds both Mexican and French nationalities from his parents. [3]
Vargas won a gold medal at the 2015 Pan American Games in the flyweight event. [4]
He competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics, losing in the round of 16 to Shakhobidin Zoirov of Uzbekistan. [5]
Vargas is scheduled to challenge Winston Guerrero for the interim WBA bantamweight title in Orlando, Florida on December 13, 2024. [6] [7] Vargas won the fight by TKO in the 10th round. [8]
