Sarath Kumar, better known by his stage name Appani Sarath (born 28 December 1992), is an Indian actor who appears in Malayalam and Tamil films. [1]

Career

Sarath came into limelight after portraying the character of Appani Ravi in Angamaly Diaries [2] directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, which gained him instant popularity. He later acted in Velipadinte Pusthakam directed by Lal Jose [3] playing the role of Franklin, who appears in the famous Jimikki Kammal song. [4] He had important roles in Pokkiri Simon and Sachin .

Sarath has also done few Tamil films, with a brief role in the 2018 Mani Ratnam movie; Chekka Chivantha Vaanam and Sandakozhi 2 with Vishal-a sequel to the 2005 movie Sandakozhi . [5]

He played the famous notorious serial killer and criminal Auto Shankar in the ZEE5 series Auto Shankar .

Angamaly Diaries is a 2017 Indian Malayalam-language action crime drama film directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery and written by Chemban Vinod Jose. The film features 86 debutant actors with Antony Varghese, Anna Rajan, Appani Sarath, Kichu Tellus, Vineeth Vishwam, Bitto Davis, Ullas Chemban, Tito Wilson and Sinoj Varghese playing the main roles. It marks Vijay Babu's first production under Friday Film House. The film features an uncut 11-minute long take in the climax featuring around 1000 artists.

<i>Odiyan</i> 2018 film by V. A. Shrikumar Menon

Odiyan (transl. Shapeshifter) is a 2018 Indian Malayalam-language fantasy drama film directed by V. A. Shrikumar Menon in his feature film debut. The film was written by Harikrishnan and is based on the legend of the Odiyan clan, who in Kerala folklore are men believed to possess shapeshifting abilities and can assume animal forms. Odiyans are said to have inhabited the Malabar region of Kerala before the widespread use of electricity. The film stars Mohanlal in the title role, alongside an ensemble cast of Prakash Raj, Manju Warrier, Siddique, Innocent, Manoj Joshi, Sana Althaf, Kailesh, Narain, Sreejaya Nair and Nandhu Krishnamoorthy. It was produced by Antony Perumbavoor through Aashirvad Cinemas. Manikyan, a notorious Odiyan, returns to his village after an exile of 15 years to see his lover once, including his friends, Damodharan and more over, Manikyan's girlfriend Prabha. His arrival causes much unease to some of the villagers, especially Ravunni Nair, Prabha's cousin brother, who has a personal grudge against him.

Tito Wilson is an Indian actor who appears in Malayalam films. He made his debut in the 2017 film Angamaly Diaries in which he played the role of U-Clamp Rajan.

Amala is a 2023 Indian Malayalam-language thriller film directed by Nishad Ebrahim, starring Srikanth, Rajisha Vijayan, Anarkali Marikar and Appani Sarath. Srikanth's character speaks in Tamil in the film. and was an official selection at 2021 Chennai International Film Festival.

<i>Alangu</i> 2024 Tamil film by S.P. Shakthivel

Alangu is a 2024 Indian action thriller film written and directed by S.P. Shakthivel. The film is produced by D Sabareesh and S.A. Sangamithra under DG Film Company in association with Magnas Productions. The film stars Gunanidhi, Kaali Venkat and Chemban Vinod in the lead roles, alongside Appani Sarath, Sreerekha and others in supporting roles. Set in the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border, the film contains both Tamil and Malayalam dialogues.
