Aquilo are an English musical duo from Silverdale, Lancashire, consisting of Tom Higham and Ben Fletcher. They began gaining recognition in 2013 for their singles such as "Calling Me" and "You There", in addition to their five EPs.
The duo's debut album, Silhouettes , was released on 27 January 2017. Their second studio album, ii , was released on 4 May 2018, and the third studio album A Safe Place To Be was released on 15 October 2021.
Members Tom Higham and Ben Fletcher grew up as neighbours in Silverdale, Lancashire. They were both part of rivaling rock bands in their hometown. [3] [4] Higham studied music production in university. [3] The two worked on their musical projects individually before collaborating as Aquilo. [5]
Aquilo began receiving attention in 2013 for their debut tracks "You There" and "Calling Me". [3] [4] [6] "You There" was included in BBC Radio 1's playlist on 12 June 2014 and the "Best Of BBC Introducing Stage" choices. [7] The song was also featured in the trailer for the 2014 independent drama Camp X-Ray . [8] [9] Additionally, they performed "Calling Me" and "You There" on the BBC Introducing stage at the 2014 Glastonbury Festival 2014 on 28 June 2014. [10] They also played at the 2014 Kendal Calling festival. [11] Their first EP, Aquilo, was released on 3 March 2014.
On 8 December 2014, they released their second EP, Human.
On 5 March 2015, their collaboration with popular disc jockey Vanic, "Losing You", was released onto YouTube and SoundCloud. It has so far accumulated over 7.5 million 'plays' on SoundCloud as of 10 April 2017. [12] They also collaborated with French DJ and record producer Madeon on "Innocence" from his debut album, Adventure , on 27 March. Besides collaborations, their third EP, Calling Me, was released at the start of June that year. Another EP, Painting Picture Of A War, was later released on 4 December.
On March 17th 2016, they played alongside alt-pop duo Oh Wonder, at O2 Forum Kentish Town, London.
In November 2016, the band appeared on Enigma's eighth studio album The Fall of a Rebel Angel . They provided vocals to the album's closing track and second single, respectively, "Amen". [13]
On 27 January 2017, the duo released their debut album, Silhouettes . [2] Their second studio album, ii , was released on 4 May 2018. [14]
Aquilo's music have been described mainly as alternative, as well as electronica, dream pop, ambient and indie. They are known for producing "soft, calm electro-pop", [4] "chilled electronic", [15] "ravishingly refined sort of dreamily sad electronica", [3] and "fragile dream pop laced with subtle electronica and soulful vocals." [16]

Robin Miriam Carlsson, known as Robyn, is a Swedish pop singer, songwriter, record producer, and DJ. Her 1995 debut album Robyn Is Here produced two Billboard Hot 100 top 10 singles: "Do You Know " and "Show Me Love". Her second and third albums, My Truth (1999) and Don't Stop the Music (2002), were released in Sweden.
Orbital are an English electronic music duo from Otford, Kent, England, consisting of brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll. The band's name is taken from Greater London's orbital motorway, the M25, which was central to the early rave scene during the early days of acid house. Additionally, the cover art on three of their albums showcase stylised atomic orbitals. Orbital have been critically and commercially successful, known particularly for their live improvisation during shows. They were initially influenced by early electro and punk rock.
Silverdale is a village and civil parish within the City of Lancaster district of Lancashire, England. The village stands on Morecambe Bay, near the border with Cumbria, 4.5 miles (7 km) north west of Carnforth and 8.5 miles (14 km) of Lancaster. The parish had a population of 1,519 recorded in the 2011 census.

Jagwar Ma is an Australian psychedelic dance band formed in Sydney in 2011. It consists of Gabriel Winterfield, Jono Ma, and bass guitarist Jack Freeman, who joined 2012. The band name is derived from a satirical compound of the word "jaguar" and Jono's surname. In 2013, Jagwar Ma signed with record labels Mom+Pop (US), Marathon Artists (EU), and Future Classic (Australia) and released its debut album Howlin'. It released its second album Every Now and Then on 14 October 2016.

CAMP STAG are a 7-piece alternative rock band, formed in 2011 in Stoke-on-Trent, England. Their debut single 'Sirens', which they self-released on 16 April 2012, received national airplay courtesy of BBC Introducing on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, and XFM, as well as featuring on BBC TV's Newsround. As a result, the band were one of two acts based in Stoke-on-Trent to be invited to perform on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury Festival on Saturday 28 June 2013.
Royal Blood is an English rock duo formed in Worthing in 2011. The current lineup consists of Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher (drums). Their signature sound is built around Kerr's bass playing style, which sees him using various effects pedals and amps to make his bass guitar sound like an electric guitar and bass guitar at the same time. The duo were signed by Warner Chappell Music in 2013 and have since released four studio albums: Royal Blood (2014), How Did We Get So Dark? (2017), Typhoons (2021), and Back to the Water Below (2023).

Silhouettes is the debut studio album by British indie band Aquilo. It was released on 27 January 2017 through Island Records. The album includes songs from previous extended play releases, including "Human", "You Won't Know Where You Stand", "I Gave It All", "Never Seen You Get So Low" and "Waiting". The lead single from the album, entitled "Sorry", was released on 10 November 2016.
