Ard van Peppen (born 26 June 1985) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a left back. [1]

Contents

As a player he has won promotion from Eerste Divisie to the Eredivisie on three occasions.

He is Indonesian descent from his mother. [2]

Career

Born in Delft, Van Peppen started his professional career for Feyenoord, but was soon loaned out to feeder club SBV Excelsior. During his loan spell he gained promotion to the Eredivisie with Excelsior during the 2005/6 after winning the Dutch second division.

In 2006, he signed with De Graafschap. He made his debut for the club in a 0-1 lost home match against Go Ahead Eagles and again gained promotion to the Eredivisie after winning the Dutch second division during the 2006/7 season. He played for De Graafschap in the Eredivisie after promotion during 2007.

He returned on loan to Excelsior in 2008 before joining Excelsior on a permanent deal after his loan spell. [3] Excelsior qualified for the promotion playoffs during the 2008/09 season however were knocked out by RKC Waalwijk, however he again gained promotion from the Eerste Divisie for the 3rd time, when Excelsior beat Sparta Rotterdam in the Playoff final during the 2010/11 season.

In 2010, he was transferred to RKC Waalwijk, who were just relegated to the Dutch second division. [4] [5]

After three years Van Peppen left RKC Waalwijk on a free transfer and he signed a three-year contract with Eredivisie side Roda JC Kerkrade. [6] When his contract was not extended there, he was a free agent again. In April 2019, Van Peppen announced that he had officially retired. [7] [8]

The Eerste Divisie 2009–10 was the 54th season of the Eerste Divisie since its establishment in 1956. The previous year's winners were VVV-Venlo; they, with runner-up RKC Waalwijk, after a promotion/relegation playoff win over De Graafschap, were promoted to the Eredivisie. Twenty teams took part: eighteen from the 2008–2009 season and relegated teams FC Volendam and De Graafschap. The season's champion was promoted to the Eredivisie, while eight other teams, the second- through fifth-place finishers and period winners, faced the Eredivisie's sixteenth- and seventeenth-place finishers in promotion/relegation playoffs. Derk Boerrigter is a retired Dutch footballer, who played most of his career as a winger. He began his professional career with Ajax, but did not make any first team appearances and was eventually loaned to Haarlem. He then played for FC Zwolle and RKC Waalwijk before rejoining Ajax. The 2019–20 Eerste Divisie, known as Keuken Kampioen Divisie for sponsorship reasons, was the sixty-fourth season of Eerste Divisie since its establishment in 1955. It began in August 2019 with the first matches of the season and was scheduled to end in May 2020 with the finals of the promotion/relegation play-offs, also involving the 16th-placed team from the 2019–20 Eredivisie. The season was temporarily halted in March 2020, then postponed for several weeks and later abandoned altogether due to the global COVID-19 pandemic and consequent Dutch government decision to disallow all large-scale events until 1 September 2020.
