Areeka Haq (born 20 October 2003) is a Pakistani TikToker and social media influencer. [2] [3] [4] She has 11.4 million followers on TikTok and over 4 million followers on Instagram. [5] Areeka has also featured in the official music video of Tum Tum song by Asim Azhar [6] [7] [8]

Early life

Areeka was born on 20 October 2003, in Karachi, Pakistan. She was attracted to acting and dancing from a young age. She received good support from her parents to become an influencer. [9]

Career

In 2015, Areeka started sharing her dancing and acting videos on TikTok and got a good response from the users. [1] She also became the first Pakistani social media influencer to reach 1 million followers on Instagram. Soon, she crossed the 10 million mark on TikTok. [10] [11] In 2020, she was nominated for the "Best Instagram Influencer" award at the 1st Pakistan International Screen Awards, alongside Aiman Khan and Minal Khan. In 2021, she was nominated for "TikToker of the year" award at the 2nd Pakistan International Screen Awards. [12] [13] In July 2020, she featured in Asim Azhar's official music video of the popular song Tum Tum, [8] alongside Shamoon Ismail and Talha Anjum. [14] [15] In 2022, she featured in Akh Da Nasha, a song by Shahroz Khan. [16] Areeka's videos have also gone viral in India, garnering great response from the citizens. [17] [18]

In 2020, she was subjected to online abuse for her performance in "Tum Tum" causing her severe depression. [19] [20] Many celebrities including Saba Qamar, Yasir Hussain, Zara Noor Abbas and Hania Amir came to the defence of Areeka Haq and appreciated Asim Azhar for giving opportunities to the young talent.
