Hania Amir is a Pakistani actress who appears in Urdu films and television series. Her appearance in the sunsilk commercial made her one of the most sought-out media personalities in Pakistan. [1] [2] [3]

Contents

Amir made her acting debut with a supporting role in the blockbuster romantic comedy Janaan (2016)—a role which earned her a Lux Style Award for Best Supporting Actress nomination. [4] [5] [6] She rose to prominence with the role of an beauty-obsessed unfaithful wife in the Urdu 1's romantic television series Titli (2017), that was loosely inspired from the novel Beauty and the Beast and a girl next door in the ARY Digital's melodrama Visaal (2018). [7] [8] Amir achieved further success by featuring as the female lead in the action comedy Na Maloom Afraad 2 (2018), which rank among the highest-grossing Pakistani films, and drew praise for her performances in the romantic television series Ishqiya (2020), Mere Humsafar (2021) and Sang-e-Mah (2022).

In addition to acting in films and television, Amir endorses various brands and products, including Maybelline and Garnier, participate in stage shows and concerts. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics for her acting prowess, she has become one of the most popular actresses in the country.

Early life

Aamir was born on 12 February 1997 in Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan to a Punjabi father from Murree and a Hindkowan mother of Hazarewal descent. She has a younger sister, Esha Amir. [9] [10] Amir was pursuing a degree in Business Management from the Foundation for Advancement of Science and Technology (FAST-NUCES), however, she dropped out in the first year to pursue a career in acting.

Career

Early work (2016–2019)

Amir was studying at the Foundation for Advancement of Science and Technology, when she auditioned for the romantic comedy Janaan (2016), a film produced by the debutante filmmaker Imran Kazmi. Upon release, the film received positive reviews and was a commercial success. Her role of a mischievous Pashtun women was critically appreciated and garnered her a Lux Style Award for Best Supporting Actress nomination. [5] [11] [12]

Aamir subsequently starred as a beauty-obsessed unfaithful wife in the 2017 romantic drama Titli . Her performance in the Hum TV's romantic drama Phir Wohi Mohabbat (2017), earned her the Best Television Sensation Female at the Hum Awards. That same year, Aamir played a headstrong bride-to-be in the heist comedy Na Maloom Afraad 2 . The following year, Aamir featured in Parwaaz Hai Junoon alongside Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ahad Raza Mir and Kubra Khan. Her next portrayal was of a girl next door in the melodrama Visaal (2018), opposite Zahid Ahmed and Saboor Aly. [13] [14] [15]

Aamir played the free-spirited heiress of Shergarh in Anaa (2019) opposite Shehzad Sheikh. She also sang the title track of the series along with Sahir Ali Bagga, which has garnered 8 million views on YouTube. She received positive reviews for her work. [16] [17] [18] [19]

Popularity and recognition (2020–present)

In 2020, Aamir played a carefree and outgoing girl Rumaisa Siddique, in Ishqiya opposite Feroze Khan. She received a nomination for Best Actress TV at the 2nd Pakistan International Screen Awards. [20] [21] The same year she starred as a flirty TikToker girl, Sanam Jameel in Dil Ruba . [22]

In 2022, Aamir portrayed Hala Hamza Ahmed in Mere Humsafar opposite Farhan Saeed. [23] She received Lux Style Awards Best TV Actress and Best TV Actress - Critics' Choice nominations. [24] The same year, she briefly appeared as Gul Meena co-starring Zaviyar Nauman Ijaz in the ensemble cast drama Sang-e-Mah . [25] In 2023, Aamir portrayed Maheer Saad Hussain opposite Wahaj Ali and Zaviyar Nauman Ijaz, in the romantic drama Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha . [26] Her performance received mixed to negative reviews. [27] Later that year, she appeared in Hadiqa Kiani's music video, titled "Jani Door Gaye", in which she was paired again with Wahaj Ali. [28]

Aamir has been described in the media, among Pakistan's most popular and highest-paid actresses. [29] [30] She has featured in Hello Pakistan's HOT100 list in the "Headliners" category. [31] She walked the ramp for Zainab Chottani at the "Pakistan Fashion Week" in 2019. [32] She has also done various photoshoots for "Eid Collections" and for designers like Asim Jofa. [33] [34] Aamir is a brand ambassador for several brands like Maybelline, Sunsilk, Garnier, Mobilink and Sprite. [35] In 2022, Aamir was named the brand ambassador for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League. [36] Aamir is the most-followed Pakistani celebrity on Instagram, surpassing Ayeza Khan. [37] [38]
