Arnold Kadlec (born 8 January 1959 in Most, Czechoslovakia) is a retired Czechoslovak ice hockey player. He played for the Czechoslovakian team in the 1980 and 1984 Winter Olympics, winning a silver medal in 1984.

The men's ice hockey tournament at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia, was the 15th Olympic Championship. The Soviet Union won its sixth gold medal. Jaroslav Drobný was a world No. 1 amateur tennis and ice hockey champion. He left Czechoslovakia in 1949 and travelled as an Egyptian citizen before becoming a citizen of the United Kingdom in 1959, where he died in 2001. In 1954, he became the first and, to date, only player with African citizenship to win the Wimbledon Championships. He was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1983. He played internationally for the Czechoslovakia men's national ice hockey team, and was inducted in the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame.

František Musil, more commonly known in North America as Frank Musil, is a Czech former professional ice hockey player who spent several seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Minnesota North Stars, Calgary Flames, Ottawa Senators, and Edmonton Oilers. Musil is currently an amateur scout for the Sabres and assistant coach for the Czech national ice hockey team.

Igor Liba is a Slovak former professional ice hockey player. He played 37 games in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings during the 1988–89 season. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1979 to 2003, was mainly spent in the Czechoslovak Extraliga and in other European leagues. Internationally Liba played for the Czechslovakian national team in several tournaments, including the 1984, 1988, and 1992 Winter Olympics, winning a bronze medal in the latter. In 2005 Liba was inducted into the Slovak Hockey Hall of Fame.

Petr Rosol is a Czech former professional ice hockey forward. He played in the 1992 Olympic ice hockey for Czechoslovakia where he won a bronze medal. He was drafted 75th overall by the Calgary Flames in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft.

Hockey Club Košice is a Slovak professional ice hockey club based in Košice that competes in the Slovak Extraliga, the top tier of Slovak ice hockey. It is the most successful hockey club in Slovakia and the former Czechoslovakia, having won the Tipos Extraliga nine times, the Czechoslovakian Hockey League twice, the 1st. Slovak National Hockey League once, the IIHF Continental Cup once, the Tatra Cup ten times, and the Rona Cup four times. The club is nicknamed "Oceliari", which means "Steelers" in English.

Michal Barinka is a Czech professional ice hockey defenceman who currently plays for HC Kometa Brno of the Czech Extraliga. He was drafted 59th overall in the 2nd round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. He was traded to the Senators in a three-way deal on July 9, 2006, that sent Martin Havlat to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Jiří Dudáček is a former professional ice hockey right wing. He was drafted in the first round, 17th overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft, making him the first Czechoslovak player to be selected in the first round of a National Hockey League draft. Dudáček was a star for the Czechoslovak team at the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in 1980 and 1981, and was considered by many NHL scouts to be the top junior prospect in the 1981 draft class.

Jiří Holík is a Czech former professional ice hockey player and coach. Holík played for Dukla Jihlava in the Czechoslovak Extraliga and was a member of the Czechoslovakia men's national ice hockey team. Holík was a member of the Czechoslovak 1976 Canada Cup team. He was also a member of the country's medal winning teams at the 1964, 1968, 1972, and 1976 Winter Olympics. He was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in 1999.

Jiří Lála is a Czechoslovakian former professional ice hockey player who played in the Czechoslovak Extraliga. He played for HC Jihlava. He was a member of the Czechoslovak 1981 Canada Cup team and was a silver medallist at the 1984 Winter Olympics. He was named the best forward at the 1983 World Championships and was the top scorer on the Czechoslovak team that won the world championship in 1985, with 13 points (8+5) in 10 games.

Dušan Pašek was a Czechoslovak and Slovak professional ice hockey forward who played 48 games in the National Hockey League with the Minnesota North Stars. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1977 to 1993, was mainly spent with Slovan Bratislava in the Czechoslovak Extraliga. He won a silver medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics and represented Czechoslovakia at three Canada Cups. He also won a gold medal at the 1985 World Ice Hockey Championships.

Jaroslav Pouzar is a Czech former professional ice hockey forward. He was selected in the fourth round of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft, 83rd overall, by the Edmonton Oilers. He won 2 cups with Edmonton in 1984, 1985. He left to play in Europe in the summer of 1985. He returned during 1987 season to win a third cup with Edmonton. Pouzar played parts of four NHL seasons with Edmonton, as well as seeing extensive playing time in Europe.

Czechoslovakia first participated at the Olympic Games in 1918, after having competed as Bohemia from 1900 to 1912. The nation sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games since then, except for the 1984 Games when they were part of the Soviet-led boycott of the 1984 Summer Olympics. Czechoslovakia has participated in every Winter Olympic Games since the inaugural Games of 1924.

The 1984 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships was the eighth edition of the Ice Hockey World Junior Championship. It was held from December 25, 1983, to January 3, 1984, in Norrköping and Nyköping, Sweden. The Soviet Union won its second consecutive gold medal and sixth overall. Finland won silver and Czechoslovakia bronze.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">František Černík</span> Czech ice hockey player

František Černík is a Czechoslovakian former ice hockey player. Most of his career was spent in the Czechoslovak First Ice Hockey League with TJ Vítkovice, where he played from 1978 to 1984. He also spent the 1984–85 season with the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League, and three subsequent years split between Germany and Austria, before retiring in 1989. After his playing career finished Černík became general manager of TJ Vítkovice, holding that position until 2004. He became president of the club in 2004, a position he held until 2011, and purchased majority control of the club in 2005, owning it until 2016. He was again named president in 2017. Internationally Černík represented the Czechoslovakian national team at several tournaments, including multiple World Championships, two Canada Cups, and the 1984 Winter Olympics, where he won a silver medal.
