Arnold Rodrigues is a former footballer who played as a midfielder for Salgaocar and the India football team. [2] Born in Tanzania, he represented India internationally, after making his debut in 1977.

Early life

Rodrigues was born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to Goan parents, before being sent to a boarding school Monte de Guirim School in Bardez, Goa, India. [1] His family hailed from Orlim, Salcete, Goa. [3]

Career

Rodrigues played for the club Salgaocar [3] and the Goa football team at the Santosh Trophy. [4]

In 1989, Rodrigues signed with Croydon of Isthmian Football League. [5] He also appeared with English Non-League football outfit Simba, a team having Goan players. [5]

Rodrigues was known for his speed and dribbling ability. [6]

Rodrigues is married, has lived in London, England, is a British citizen, and is a supporter of English Premier League side Liverpool. [5]

The 1983–84 Santosh Trophy was the 40th edition of the Santosh Trophy, the main State competition for football in India. It was held in April 1984 in Madras, Tamil Nadu.
