Nearly 1,000 people were at the Art All Night event located at Roebling Wire Works Building, in Trenton, New Jersey on June 17, 2018, when multiple people began to shoot at one another, with one individual killed and 22 injured. [2]

Incident

Two men opened fire around 2:45 am during the 24-hour arts and music festival that showcased local art, music, food and films, which had about 1,000 people in attendance, with about 5,000 to 10,000 people inside and outside the venue, and in the parking lots. Mercer County Prosecutor, told reporters that a 33-year-old suspect was killed and a second suspect was in custody [3] however some sources have referenced a third shooter.

For those who were at the event, many described mistaking the gunfire as fireworks initially, before realizing that many of the other attendees were fleeing the location. [4]

The curator of the event described the chaos that occurred after the shooting stopped when he emerged from his shelter; "About 20 feet on my left there was somebody who was shot in the leg, but on my right, about another 25 feet, was somebody who was shot in the head...Everybody was running...The gallery was full of blood – just trails of blood. Blood splatter all over." [5]

Victims

Of the injured, 18 were treated at Capital Health System; 15 of which were gunshot wounds, 2 were treated at St. Francis Medical Center, and 1 was transferred to Cooper Health. [5]

Investigation

The Mercer County Prosecutors Office Homicide Task Force, took lead on the investigation as the incident involved officers who discharged their weapons. [4]

Suspects

Amir Armstrong (23-years-old) was wounded by the gunfire during the incident, and was moved from a medical facility to the Mercer County jail, and charged with firearms-related offenses. Another wounded suspect named Davone White (26-years-old) was charged with the same offenses. [6]

Tahaij Wells (32-years-old) was shot and killed by police during the incident, while officers exchanged gun fire with him and two other suspects. [7]

In June 2019, Armstrong pleaded guilty to second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun with no carry permit. [8] That same month White also pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a firearm. [9] Armstrong was sentenced to five years in prison the following month. In September, White was sentenced to six years, but will be eligible for parole after three and a half years of his sentence. On January 6, 2017, a mass shooting occurred at Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport in Broward County, Florida, United States, near the baggage claim in Terminal 2. Five people were killed while six others were injured in the shooting. About 36 people sustained injuries in the ensuing panic. Esteban Santiago-Ruiz, who flew in to the airport from Alaska and committed the shooting with a Walther PPS 9mm semi-automatic pistol, was taken into custody by a Broward County Sheriff's Office (BSO) deputy within 85 seconds after he started shooting. The shooting from start to finish lasted 70–80 seconds. Santiago was later diagnosed with schizophrenia and pleaded guilty to avoid possible execution. On August 17, 2018, Santiago was sentenced to five consecutive life sentences plus 120 years in prison.

In the early morning hours of March 26, 2017, a shootout occurred at the Cameo nightclub in southeastern Cincinnati, Ohio. One person was killed and 16 others were injured. Two suspects were arrested on March 30, though police continued to search for more people involved. One of the suspects, who was among those injured, later died of his injuries on April 4.

On November 1, 2017, a shooting occurred at a Walmart Supercenter in Thornton, a suburb of Denver, Colorado. It was reported to have begun at 6:10 p.m. MT, resulting in three people killed. There was a nationwide manhunt for suspect Scott Allen Ostrem, 47.

The Marshall County High School shooting occurred at Marshall County High School near Benton, Kentucky, on January 23, 2018. The gunman, 15-year-old student Gabe Parker, opened fire in an open area at the school, murdering two students and injuring 14 others.

On October 3, 2018, seven law enforcement officers were shot and five civilians were injured in Florence, South Carolina, United States. Two officers were killed.

On May 5 and 6, 2016, a shooting spree occurred across several locations in Maryland. Eulalio Tordil, a Homeland Security officer, traveled across the Washington metropolitan area, where he shot and killed three people and wounded three others in the span of 24 hours between May 5 and 6, 2016. The shooting was reminiscent of the 2002 Washington, D.C., sniper attacks.

The Poway synagogue shooting occurred on April 27, 2019, at Chabad of Poway synagogue in Poway, California, United States, a city approximately 20 miles (32 km) north of San Diego, on the last day of the Jewish Passover holiday, which fell on a Shabbat. Armed with an AR-15 style rifle, John Timothy Earnest fatally shot one woman and injured three other persons, including the synagogue's rabbi. After fleeing the scene, Earnest phoned 9-1-1 and reported the shooting. He was apprehended in his car approximately two miles (3.2 km) from the synagogue by a San Diego police officer.

Chabad of Poway is an Orthodox synagogue and community center in Poway, California. Founded in 1986, it includes a 770-seat sanctuary, preschool, afternoon Hebrew school, senior center, library, and mikveh, serving the Jewish communities of Poway and Rancho Bernardo.

On May 7, 2019, a school shooting occurred at STEM School Highlands Ranch, a charter school located in Douglas County, Colorado, United States, in the Denver suburb of Highlands Ranch. One student was killed and eight others were injured. Two teenagers, students Alec McKinney and Devon Erickson, were convicted on dozens of charges and sentenced to life imprisonment.

On 4 June 2019, a mass shooting occurred in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. The Northern Territory Police confirmed that four people were killed in the incident and another one was injured. A 45-year-old man, Benjamin Glenn Hoffmann, was arrested and subsequently convicted for murder and manslaughter.

On February 19, 2022, a mass shooting occurred near Normandale Park, in Portland, Oregon, United States. One person was killed and five others were injured, including the shooter. The shooting took place near a demonstration for Amir Locke, a 22-year-old Black man who was shot and killed by a Minneapolis police officer and Patrick Kimmons, a 27-year-old Black man killed by Portland police during a 2018 altercation.
